Meanwhile, the Liberals and Sahra Wagenknecht\u2019s coalition are vying for seats in parliament. The AfD faces a crucial historical test as it seeks to form Germany\u2019s first far-right government since World War II.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The atmosphere in Halle reflects a sharp polarization ahead of the election, with the city council displaying rainbow flags in support of tolerance. Meanwhile, the Evangelical Church has issued explicit calls to vote for humanity. The far-right campaign is being led by Ulrich Sigmund, whom Der Spiegel magazine has dubbed \u201cthe most dangerous man in Germany.\u201d This comes amid accusations that his inner circle has ties to banned neo-Nazi organizations. His Christian Democratic Union (CDU) rival, Sven Schulze, is suffering from a 23% drop in popularity. This presents the democratic forces with a complex challenge in forming a broad coalition.
