I want to meet as many people as possible across our wonderful borough \u2013 from schools and volunteers to community groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Currently serving as the borough\u2019s deputy mayor, Coun Alam came to the UK when she was eight and later moved to Tameside, making it her home. She is married to Mr Mohammed Khairul Alam who will be her consort.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The new mayor has represented <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/hyde-and-longdendale\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyde<\/a> Werneth ward since she was elected in 2019. At the latest town hall meeting in Dukinfield, council leader Eleanor Wills threw her support behind Coun Alam, saying she would be an \u2018exemplary\u2019 mayor for the borough.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The new deputy mayor, destined to become the next mayor, is Coun Helen Bowden.
