Celtic<\/a> stars have “lifted the spirits” of ill kids at Glasgow Children’s Hospital with the special chance of seeing the newly crowned Champions with the Scottish Premiership trophy.<\/p>\n Today, Hoops<\/a> heroes, captain Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Kasper Schmeichel, Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda returned to the hospital after promising the kids at Christmas time that they would be back.<\/p>\n However, this time they came back with Scottish Premiership trophy, giving so many deserving kids the opportunity to see it up close.<\/p>\n Callum McGregor <\/a>told the Official Celtic FC website: \u201cHaving such a close connection to the hospital, we know how difficult it is for the kids there.<\/p>\n “We know the really serious challenges<\/a> faced by many of the kids and that so many of them are in the hospital long term too, so anything that we can do to lift their spirits in some way, then we are really happy to help.\u201d<\/p>\n Kirsten Sinclair, Chief Executive of Glasgow Children\u2019s Hospital Charity, added: \u201cWe are immensely grateful to Celtic Football Club <\/a>for their continued support and for bringing the Scottish Premiership trophy to the Royal Hospital for Children today.<\/p>\n “Opportunities<\/a> like this provide a much-needed boost for young patients and their families during what can be incredibly challenging times. The excitement of seeing the trophy and meeting the players created a truly memorable experience that will be cherished by all involved.\u201d<\/p>\n In December, when the Parkhead side visited the Glasgow Children’s Hospital before Christmas, we reported that a Celtic-mad<\/a> Wishaw dad was left ‘starstruck’ after players visited his little baby who was fighting cancer.<\/p>\n The players visited the hospital to spread Christmas<\/a> cheer to patients and their families and one family in particular were delighted to see the team.<\/p>\n Six-month-old Conan McCormick received a visit from Callum McGregor and others at Glasgow Children’s Hospital<\/a> and dad Jay, 29, said he was lost for words when the players knocked on the door.<\/p>\n The self-employed groundworker told the Record what it was like to meet the team and how their presence affected their family<\/p>\n He said: “I was playing with Conan when the door chapped. Before I could turn around, Callum McGregor<\/a> walked into the room. The other guys followed. Callum started speaking with me and asking what was going on. It made me calmer and he was sending me all the best wishes.<\/p>\n “It was a very proud moment to see my team come in and give me a bit of a lift. They gave us a bit of joy. It was a bitter sweet moment.
