Abortion ends that life, and when abortion does end that life, we are looking at a great, great tragedy \u2014 something that affects not just that person, but that family and the society and culture we live in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under current law, abortions can generally be carried out up to 24 weeks\u2019 gestation, subject to certain legal conditions. Buffer zones around abortion clinics and hospitals, meanwhile, restrict certain activities intended to influence, obstruct or harass people accessing abortion services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel there\u02bcs an absolute travesty that a human life that\u02bcs made in the image of God can be ended and can be dressed up in this slogan of \u2018abortion is healthcare\u2019,\u201d Thatcher said.<\/p>\n<p>The march was attended by 15 Catholic bishops, who also celebrated Mass at Westminster Cathedral in the morning before joining the main group.<\/p>\n<p>Southwark Auxiliary Bishop Paul Hendricks told EWTN News: \u201cI support life in all its stages. We have to stand up for our values. We have our principles and we follow Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1788671059_566_UgrwrXIg_tatv86.jpg\" alt=\"Thousands of pro-life advocates march in London near Big Ben during the city\u02bcs March for Life, Sept. 5, 2026. | Credit: Elliot Hartley\"\/>Thousands of pro-life advocates march in London near Big Ben during the city\u02bcs March for Life, Sept. 5, 2026. | Credit: Elliot Hartley<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Southwark Archbishop John Wilson told EWTN News: \u201cI\u02bcm here because I believe in the beauty and the dignity of human life. \u2026 We\u02bcre united together in a beautiful, peaceful, joyful spirit, to say that human life matters, that every life matters, from conception to natural death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd in a challenging culture, when so many people, in a sense, see life as something more disposable, you just want to stand up and be a voice for the voiceless,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees sang Christian hymns including \u201cHe\u2019s got the whole world in his hands\u201d and the Salve Regina while marching through the sunny streets of London, carrying banners reading: \u201cAbortion hurts the family,\u201d \u201cAbortion Bans Save Lives\u201d and \u201cI\u2019ve joined the fightback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1788671061_317_FkZGIk1x_srk5rf.jpg\" alt=\"Thousands of pro-life advocates march in London during the city\u02bcs March for Life, Sept. 5, 2026. | Credit: Elliot Hartley\"\/>Thousands of pro-life advocates march in London during the city\u02bcs March for Life, Sept. 5, 2026. | Credit: Elliot Hartley<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u02bcve come here today to support life from conception to natural death, within a culture where that seems not to be valued now\u2026 I think it\u02bcs important to stand up and say that the human dignity of every person is that they\u02bcre made in the image of God, no matter how small,\u201d Military Bishop Paul Mason told EWTN News.<\/p>\n<p>Father Paul Grogan told EWTN News that abortion is \u201cthe most fundamental human rights issue of our time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think it\u02bcs an important part of living out our Catholic faith that we should witness to our belief in the beauty of human life, from the moment of conception to the moments of its natural ending,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds also attended a pro-choice counter-protest, chanting slogans including \u201cabortion is a human right,\u201d \u201cnot the church, not the state, we decide our own fate,\u201d \u201cChristian fascists go away,\u201d and \u201ckeep your rosaries off our ovaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tilly Middlehurst, a pro-choice activist and a Cambridge student who became widely known online after a confrontation with the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, told EWTN News that she had \u201ccome to safeguard our rights as women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to bring as many people here as possible to demonstrate that [pro-life activists] are a minority, and they don\u02bct belong here,\u201d she said, referring to the thousands of activists marching in the streets.<\/p>\n<p>Before the march, pro-life activist Ruth Price was met with anger from counter-protesters outside the Emmanuel Centre after trying to hand out pro-life leaflets to the pro-choice advocates.<\/p>\n<p>Price told EWTN News: \u201cI wanted to speak to people who are murdering young children. \u2026 I certainly meant no harm to them. I work with adults with very profound learning difficulties and they have lives that are worthwhile.
