Their children were in their own rooms and could hear their terrified parents’ screams.\n<\/p>\n \n A judge heard all the assailants found was a box with a man’s shaver.\n<\/p>\n \n They soon fled the scene in a stolen car before the vehicle crashed into a brick wall.\n<\/p>\n \n Brandon Simpson, 28, Nathaniel Monbelly, 22, Muhammad Iqbal, 32, and Darius Stitt, 27, have now admitted their guilt after they appeared at the High Court in Glasgow<\/a> this week.\n<\/p>\n \n They will be sentenced at a later date.\n<\/p>\n \n Prosecutor Robert Weir told the hearing: \u201cA video was posted on social media showing a young male placing a large amount of cash under his bed.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cEnquiries identified this person as residing (at a property) in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cExamination of a phone attributed to Monbelly later showed this address being researched on Google Maps and the video being sent to him.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cIt is the Crown case that the accused attended at the wrong address.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Monbelly and Simpson drove 400 miles from London in a stolen Alfa Romeo on September 26 2024.\n<\/p>\n \n The car was later in the Lanarkshire area before the pair checked into a Hilton hotel in Glasgow.\n<\/p>\n \n All four were eventually together at Iqbal’s home at an apartment block in the city’s Anderston Quay.\n<\/p>\n \n At one stage, Simpson tried on a balaclava.\n<\/p>\n \n The court heard the couple were in bed around 240am on September 27 when the woman heard a \u201cloud noise\u201d and woke up her husband.\n<\/p>\n \n Mr Weir: \u201cShe opened her bedroom door and saw two males wearing all black with face coverings.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cShe immediately shut the door.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n But, the raiders forced their way in an Simpson grabbed the terrfied woman and shoved her causing her to fall.\n<\/p>\n \n Mr Weir: \u201cHe then put her in a headlock restricting her breathing and held her down by sitting on top of her.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cThe woman was screaming for help and pleaded with him not to hurt her children.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n The husband meantime could see one of the assailants was clutching a mallet. He tried to dial 999, but he was warned not to.\n<\/p>\n \n The phone was then snatched from him.\n<\/p>\n \n Mr Weir: \u201cThe accused appeared to be looking for something under the bed and pulled a black box from a storage unit \u2013 however it only contained a man’s shaver.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n One of the couple’s children could hear her parents’ yelling. The youngster then spotted two men and tried to close her own room door.\n<\/p>\n \n She also attempted to call for help, but realised her phone had been taken.\n<\/p>\n \n Three of the gang stormed into the other child’s room, upturned a bed seemingly looking for the loot.\n<\/p>\n \n The dad pleaded: \u201cTake anything you want. You can have anything.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n The man’s wife then stated: \u201cYou have the wrong house.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Mr Weir: \u201cThe accused then sped down the stairs, through the kitchen and out the back door into the garden area.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cThe patio door was smashed and glass all over the floor.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Police were then alerted to the raid. The mallet and one of the children’s phones were found outside.\n<\/p>\n \n The court was told the woman suffered bruises on her ear and legs. There had been a potential threat to her life by being choked in the headlock.\n<\/p>\n \n Police spotted the Alfa Romeo travelling at more than 100mph on the M8<\/a> westbound shortly after the crime.\n<\/p>\n \n The car whizzed through red lights as officers gave chase in their vehicle.\n<\/p>\n \n But, the Alfa Romeo skidded in the city’s Springburn<\/a> and smashed into a brick wall.\n<\/p>\n \n All four gang members tried to then flee the scene.\n<\/p>\n \n Monbelly and Simpson were soon caught. Stitt, of Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire, and Iqbal initially got away before also later being held.\n<\/p>\n
