{"id":1189308,"date":"2026-09-06T08:25:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1189308\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T08:25:16","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:25:16","slug":"diana-memorial-fountain-shut-all-summer-by-technical-fault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1189308\/","title":{"rendered":"Diana memorial fountain shut all summer by technical fault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">The Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park &#8211; which has long been a popular place to cool down in hot weather &#8211; has been kept dry all summer due to a technical fault.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Royal Parks, the charity that maintains the central London park, apologised to visitors who found it without water &#8220;particularly given the prolonged high temperatures we&#8217;ve been experiencing&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The fountain opened in 2004 in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales who died nearly seven years earlier. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The closure was initially triggered by a mechanical breakdown in the pump that draws water from the local borehole.
