Liverpool are understood to have had scouts in attendance to watch one midfielder in whom they\u2019d reportedly taken an interest during the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

There were reports earlier in the week that Anfield chiefs had asked Monaco to delay the proposed sale of Lamine Camara<\/a> to Chelsea after the two clubs had agreed a \u00a347m deadline day deal on which the Ligue 1 club ultimately pulled the plug \u00a0(Sky Sports<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Monegasques\u2019 sporting director Thiago Scuro apparently told the 22-year-old that he would complete a major transfer \u2018very soon\u2019<\/a> in what seems an attempt to keep him sweet for this season before granting him a move elswhere in 2027.<\/p>\n

Liverpool scouts watched Camara on Friday night<\/p>\n

According to Graeme Bailey for\u00a0TEAMtalk<\/a>, Liverpool had scouts watching at the Parc des Princes on Friday night as they kept tabs on the Monaco midfielder in their Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n

Camara is said to have played \u2018a significant role\u2019 as his side came from behind to beat the European champions 2-1 and continue PSG\u2019s miserable start to the campaign.<\/p>\n

The Reds remain \u2018long-term admirers\u2019 of the Senegal international and continue to monitor his situation \u2018closely\u2019.<\/p>\n

Camara was a powerhouse for Monaco as PSG humbled<\/p>\n

Any school of thought that the 22-year-old would drop his performance levels in a sulk over not getting his move to the Premier League was well and truly shut down on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The figures below from Sofascore<\/a> illustrates just how impressively Camara played as Monaco took the scalp of PSG, with the midfielder being a ball-winning tour de force for his team.<\/p>\n\nPasses completed<\/td>\n35\/38 (92% success)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\nDuels won<\/td>\n12<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\nTackles won<\/td>\n7<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\nAccurate long balls<\/td>\n3\/4<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\nDribbles completed<\/td>\n2<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\nInterceptions<\/td>\n1<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Those numbers for tackles and duels won will stand out a mile to Liverpool fans (and most likely to LFC\u2019s scouts as well), with many supporters feeling that there\u2019s a void in Andoni Iraola\u2019s starting XI in terms of a true defensive midfield shield.<\/p>\n

The Reds won\u2019t be able to sign Camara until January at the earliest, which gives them ample opportunity to watch him a few more times before the market reopens in the winter.<\/p>\n
