{"id":1189967,"date":"2026-09-06T17:05:20","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T17:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1189967\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T17:05:20","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T17:05:20","slug":"merseysides-first-publicly-owned-buses-hit-the-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1189967\/","title":{"rendered":"Merseyside&#8217;s first publicly owned buses hit the road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">The first buses under public control in Merseyside have hit the road in St Helens.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) said the &#8220;rollout of the first locally-run bus services&#8221; in the area is the &#8220;biggest change to public transport in the region for more than a generation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A new X3 Express service service to Liverpool John Lennon Airport has begun, as well as an early morning express journey to Southport and an evening return.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The LCRCA It said there would be bigger buses on some routes and improved access to Edge Hill University and Ormskirk, as well as more links to local hospitals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram said public control over the bus network would lead to greater accountability, and a clear governance structure. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Performance data will be regularly published and scrutinised, and there will be easy-to-use systems for public feedback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Buses and the Merseyrail trains are branded with the name and logo &#8216;Metro&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But an LCRCA spokesman said there was no official brand name yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The first buses under public control in Merseyside have hit the road in St Helens.
