{"id":1190941,"date":"2026-09-07T06:40:32","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T06:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1190941\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T06:40:32","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T06:40:32","slug":"iran-warns-of-faster-heavier-retaliation-if-us-attacks-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1190941\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran warns of \u2018faster, heavier\u2019 retaliation if US attacks continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abi Sarabia M., Philippine Canadian Inquirer<br \/>September 07, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-511223\" class=\"wp-image-511223 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Iran-threatens-harsher-retaliation-over-continued-US-attacks.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-511223\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo courtesy: U.S. Central Command<\/p>\n<p>Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated again around the Strait of Hormuz after both sides launched attacks against vessels in the region.<\/p>\n<p>US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired ballistic missiles toward a US aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer on September 5.<\/p>\n<p>Both American warships avoided the attacks and no US personnel were injured, according to CENTCOM.<\/p>\n<p>In response, US forces struck three crude oil tankers that CENTCOM said were linked to a network financing the IRGC.<\/p>\n<p>The M\/T Downy near Kharg Island and M\/T Stark 1 near Jask were permanently disabled, while the unladen M\/T Kylo, also known as Noxen, was destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew was told to abandon the vessel.<\/p>\n<p>CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper warned that attacks on American forces would bring greater economic consequences for Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Iran later announced retaliatory attacks against three oil tankers it accused of using an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as three vessels it described as linked to the United States.
