Gloucestershire Council\/Public-i)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A dad who lost his job last year has won the right to follow his passion for baking by setting up a street-trading van selling home-made treats and artisan cheese toasties at Bradley Stoke\u2019s trading estate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Jason Fish was granted a licence by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/south-gloucestershire\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">South Gloucestershire<\/a> councillors for his business Baked and Bearded, Gourmet Bites, to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/public-safety-concern-over-new-10168011\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">sell hot and cold food<\/a> at Great Park Road, near the junction with Woodlands Lane, from 7am to 2pm weekdays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">His <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/council.southglos.gov.uk\/documents\/s159872\/report.pdf\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">application prompted an objection<\/a> from a local resident who said the van would make existing congestion worse and endanger public safety, especially during rush hour, as the road was used by lorries and buses and that vehicles were parked on the roadside, reducing traffic to one lane near a bus stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The objector was also concerned about the potential for loitering and antisocial behaviour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But none of the authorities, including the police, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/south-gloucestershire-council\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the council\u2019s<\/a> highways team and public health, opposed the licensing sub-committee approving a static street-trading consent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bradley-stoke\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bradley Stoke<\/a> Town Council also had the road was fairly long and straight and the existing parking did allow two-way traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said: \u201cMy trailer is relatively small, it\u2019s only six metres in length, comparable to a small van \u2013 it\u2019s not one of those big grotesque massive ones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe objection raised concerns about traffic flow during rush hour, so in the mornings I will be on the outbound side of the estate which will enable traffic flow into the estate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIn the evening rush hour I don\u2019t plan to be trading, so that should ease some worries about the operation during peak times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThere is ample enough space for traffic to get past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said his customers would be mainly staff at the business park who would walk to the van and take their lunch back to the office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Mr Fish said: \u201cThere is no seating or music to encourage people to loiter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThis is my first venture into food trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I\u2019m a passionate baker.
