{"id":1191607,"date":"2026-09-07T15:24:34","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T15:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1191607\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T15:24:34","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T15:24:34","slug":"man-jailed-for-life-after-murdering-flat-mate-in-leeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1191607\/","title":{"rendered":"Man jailed for life after murdering flat-mate in Leeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Scott Silkstone, 51, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court, after being convicted of killing Dwayne Tuohey in Burmantofts, Leeds.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The court heard that Silkstone attacked Mr Tuohey, 55, inside his flat at Gargrave Court before dragging him outside and repeatedly stamping on him.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Tuohey was found unconscious near bins outside the flats by paramedics on January 1.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Violent assault<\/p>\n<p>\n  Forensic investigators found blood throughout the living room and on a number of objects, including a prosthetic leg, a crutch, a heater, a shower seat and a metal box.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Experts concluded several of the items had been used as weapons during the attack.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Silkstone was sentenced to life imprisonment and must serve a minimum of 22 years before being considered for parole.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Family&#8217;s heartbreak<\/p>\n<p>\n  In a statement, Mr Tuohey&#8217;s family said his murder had changed the way they see the world and highlighted the devastating impact violent crime has on loved ones left behind.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes, of West Yorkshire Police, described the attack as &#8220;horrific and vicious&#8221; and said Silkstone had shown no remorse despite overwhelming evidence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Scott Silkstone, 51, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court, after being convicted of killing&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":1191608,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[8814],"tags":[748,393,4884,1860,16,15],"class_list":["post-1191607","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-leeds","tag-britain","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-leeds","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/117230453831382350","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1191607","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1191607"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1191607\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1191608"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1191607"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1191607"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1191607"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
