Their products aren\u2019t good enough!\u201d Trump said on Monday in a social media post. \u201cIf they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a \u2018piggybank\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s comments come as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/9\/1\/canadas-carney-says-us-must-start-being-serious-to-resolve-trade-dispute\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tensions<\/a> flare once again between the US and Canada, which have historically had tight relations. Trump has imposed a series of tariffs on Canadian products, prompting retaliatory actions. The retaliatory tariffs are set to take effect on early Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The tariffs come as negotiations between the United States and Canada have deteriorated in recent weeks. Canada\u2019s tariffs will cover nearly $20bn of 700 different US goods.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time the US president has targeted Bombardier since returning to office in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Canadian aeroplane maker Bombardier plunged in January after Trump threatened to decertify the private jet maker\u2019s large-cabin planes and slap 50 percent import tariffs on new planes until Canada certified the latest aircraft produced by US rival Gulfstream.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver 50% of their revenue comes from the United States \u2014 They live off American Buyers, American Companies, American Airports, and American Service,\u201d Trump said on Monday. \u201cCanada blocks our GREAT American Banks, and Companies, throughout the USA. They even blocked Gulfstream Aerospace from doing business in Canada \u2014 Completely unjust and unfair! That Era is OVER!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move will affect large private jet companies including NetJets, one of Bombardier\u2019s biggest purchasers.
