The United Kingdom will allocate \u00a3100 million ($135 million) for an air defense assistance package for Ukraine, including missiles for Patriot systems.<\/p>\n

The Independent\u00a0<\/a> reported this, citing the British government, according to Ukrinform.<\/p>\n

The funds are part of the defense support that the United Kingdom<\/a>\u00a0 will provide to Ukraine under a winter air defense package. It is intended to strengthen Ukraine\u2019s protection against Russian missile attacks.<\/p>\n

As part of the British contribution, Ukraine will also receive interceptor missiles, large-caliber artillery shells, and drones in line with priority needs identified in the NATO-compiled PURL list.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, September 8, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, will co-chair their first meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, known as the Ramstein format. The group comprises around 50 countries providing military assistance to Kyiv, according to the Belfast Telegraph .<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cBoth the Prime Minister and I heard loud and clear on our first visits to Kyiv the importance of supporting Ukraine through this winter, as Putin prepares to use winter as a weapon by continuing barbaric attacks against civilian and energy targets.,\u201d Streeting said, adding:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe promised to mobilize our allies and provide greater support wherever we can. Today, we are delivering on that promise by strengthening Ukraine\u2019s defenses and, together with 50 allies, turning commitments into real capabilities. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine until it achieves victory. Ukraine\u2019s front line is the front line in the struggle for freedom around the world, and our support will not waver\u201d.<\/p>\n

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Prime Minister Andy Burnham and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine in a phone call .<\/a><\/p>\n
