It did not disclose how many ballistic missiles had been used in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>At least two people were killed and 10 others wounded in the Russian air raids on Ukraine\u2019s capital, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.<\/p>\n<p>He reported that the strikes caused damage in the city\u2019s Darnytskyi, Holosiivskyi, Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts.<\/p>\n<p>Drones hit buildings in Kyiv as well as in the Boryspil and Fastiv districts on the outskirts of the city, according to Ukraine\u2019s emergency services.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine criticised Russia for launching attacks so soon after US President Donald Trump\u2019s envoys \u2013 Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner \u2013 visited both countries\u2019 capitals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe moment the US president\u2019s peace envoys left, [President Vladimir] Putin launched another massive, horrific attack against Kyiv,\u201d Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on social media, adding: \u201cHis ballistic missiles speak louder than his words on diplomacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the attacks in Ukraine, Russian regional Governor Roman Busargin said a Ukrainian drone attack hit civilian infrastructure in Saratov, nearly 1,000km (621 miles) from Moscow, injuring several people.<\/p>\n<p>At least one person was killed in a separate Ukrainian attack on the Russian town of Starodub in the border area of the Bryansk region, according to Yegor Kovalchuk, the region\u2019s acting governor.<\/p>\n<p>At least two people were killed and one person was wounded in a Ukrainian attack on the Crimean Peninsula, Moscow-appointed regional Governor Sergei Aksyonov said.<\/p>\n<p>Russia and Ukraine pledged to halt strikes on each other\u2019s capitals for three days as Washington dispatched envoys to Moscow and Kyiv. However, fighting continued elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Attacks paused after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Putin announced the partial ceasefire during the US envoys\u2019 visits to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/9\/4\/us-envoys-headed-to-russia-and-ukraine-to-relaunch-mediation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Moscow and Kyiv<\/a> over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s state news agency TASS confirmed that the three-day suspension Putin had ordered for his forces expired on Monday evening local time.<\/p>\n<p>Witkoff and Kushner held talks with officials in Moscow and Kyiv regarding ending the war.
