Tom Sykes, the Daily Beast\u2019s European editor, wrote<\/a> Monday of photos of Charles and Beckham together. The king\u2019s invitation to Beckham to attend his first-ever Chelsea Flower Show was \u201ca very clear rebuff to his son,\u201d coming after reports that Harry and Meghan were trying to \u201cbuild ties\u201d with Brooklyn and Nicola.<\/p>\nThe king and his wife, Queen Camila, approached Beckham at the flower show, the Daily Mail reported. Beckham also was there to represent the King\u2019s Foundation, Charles\u2019 personal philanthropic organization, as an ambassador.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour Majesty, it\u2019s so nice to see you,\u201d Beckham said to Charles, who astonishingly asked if he had received the birthday present he sent, according to the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou got it, didn\u2019t you?\u201d Charles asked<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was incredible,\u201d Beckham beamed. \u201cThank you, it was very kind.\u201d<\/p>\n
Camilla added: \u201cNice to see you again, glad you got the roses.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beckham then told Camila about his recent birthday celebrations, which took place on both sides of the Atlantic and which kicked off with a star-studded party at Cipriani, the exclusive Italian restaurant in Miami, The Athletic reported. But Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Pletz, the daughter of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, were notorious no-shows at the celebrations. Like Harry, Brooklyn Beckham has had a very public falling out with his birth family, including with his mother, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.<\/p>\n
Sykes reported that Brooklyn Beckham believes he is suffering from \u201cgenerational trauma,\u201d using language that will be familiar to those who have followed Harry and Meghan\u2019s criticisms of Charles, his brother Prince William and the rest of the royal family.<\/p>\n
Sources told the Daily Mail that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were \u201csecretly supporting\u201d Brooklyn and Nicola, seeing the similarities in their respective family feuds. Sykes also noted that there were other parallels between the family feuds: Both Meghan and Nicola have been blamed by some \u201cfor having turned once-favored sons against their families.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the royal family appears to be lending its support to David and Victoria Beckham in their family feud. Last year, the king invited the Beckhams to a high-profile dinner at his private mansion in Gloucester, the Daily Mail reported. The couple also were surprise guests at Buckingham Palace in December for a state banquet to mark the visit of the Emir of Qatar, signaling their rise in British social circles. Then, last week, Kate Middleton wore a suit design by Victoria Beckham for a British Fashion Council event.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also been speculation that Beckham is aiming for a knighthood, while he and Charles reportedly bond over a shared love of gardening and making honey, according to the Daily Mail and The Athletic.<\/p>\n
Beckham once was known to be good friends with Harry and was seen as having a good influence on the prince in his younger, wilder days. David and Victoria Beckham also were guests at Harry and Meghan\u2019s 2018 wedding. But Beckham\u2019s friendship with Harry reportedly soured after he and his wife accused the Beckhams of leaking stories about them to the media. The Beckhams denied the accusations.<\/p>\n
