Our engineers are on site and we will provide an update as soon as we can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for the delay this will cause to journeys, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/passengers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">passengers<\/a> should check with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/airline\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">airline<\/a> on the status of their flight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least 15 airports have been affected by the technical issues, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/travel\/news-and-advice\/flight-cancellations-delay-refunds-passenger-rights-b3046661.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">causing chaos for holidaymakers<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the UK Civil Aviation Authority said: \u201cPassengers travelling through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/uk-airports\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UK airports<\/a> today should check with their airlines before they travel.\u201cIn the event of delays or cancellations, airlines are expected to provide passengers with food and drink, or accommodation if delayed overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the airports affected:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>London Heathrow<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson said: \u201cThe air traffic control service Nats is experiencing a technical issue which is impacting departing flights at UK airports. Arriving flights are not currently impacted. We are supporting our local Nats team in their efforts to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We will provide updated information when we have it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>London Gatwick<\/p>\n<p>A post on social media indicated that London Gatwick Airport was impacted by the air traffic control technical issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of a Nats technical issue that is currently affecting a number of UK airports, including London Gatwick. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for more information regarding their flights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>London City<\/p>\n<p>London City Airport confirmed it is experiencing disruption to departing flights.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for London City Airport said: \u201cDue to an air traffic control issue affecting airports across London, London City Airport is experiencing disruption to departing flights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassengers should check their flight status with their airline before travelling to the airport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for the inconvenience and thank passengers for their patience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2026-09-08T143454Z_1091821744_RC2K7GAUJF1M_RTRMADP_3_BRITAIN-AIRPORT.JPG\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"London Gatwick is experiencing disruption\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/>London Gatwick is experiencing disruption (Reuters)<\/p>\n<p>London Southend<\/p>\n<p>London Southend Airport is also being affected by the Nats technical issue.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for London Southend Airport said: \u201cWe are aware of a Nats technical issue that is currently affecting a number of UK airports, including London Southend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise to those disrupted and advise passengers to check with their airline for latest flight information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>London Stansted<\/p>\n<p>Flights at London Stansted are disrupted, a spokesperson said: \u201cWe are aware of an issue affecting Nats\u2019 air traffic control service, which is causing disruption to flights at London Stansted and across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassengers due to travel should check the status of their flight directly with their airline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh<\/p>\n<p>A total of 58 per cent of flights are delayed at Edinburgh Airport, according to FlightRadar24. The average delay is 26 minutes and it ranks number four on the tracker\u2019s global map of air traffic disruption, it added.<\/p>\n<p>A post on X said: \u201cWe are aware of a technical issue affecting @NATS which may impact operations. Arriving flights are not currently affected. Customers should check the latest flight information with their airline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton<\/p>\n<p>AGS Airports announced three of its airports were experiencing disruption.<\/p>\n<p>A statement on social media read: \u201cA technical issue affecting NATS air traffic control services is causing disruption to some flight departures. As a result, some services operating to and from our airports may experience delays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for any inconvenience and advise passengers to check with their airline for the latest flight information before travelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jersey<\/p>\n<p>Jersey Airport said it was also affected by a technical issue with air traffic control. In a statement the Channel Islands airport said: \u201cUK air traffic control is currently experiencing issues which is impacting flights across the UK including services between Jersey and UK.\u201cPassengers are advised to check the latest flight information directly with their airline.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Manchester<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson from Manchester Airport said the Nats issue may cause delays to some departing flights. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of an issue affecting Nats\u2019 air traffic control service at UK airports, which may result in delays to some departing flights from Manchester Airport today.
