And it also seems the couple are miles apart on another issue.<\/p>\n

For the public to see or not to see their \u201croyal\u201d kids? That is the question for the Duke and Duchess of Montecito<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Meghan<\/a> shared her most personal glimpse of Archie<\/a>, five, and Lilibet<\/a>, three, in years as she teased the launch of her new food brand, As Ever.<\/p>\n

The children are shown clinging to her in the garden and also running across the grass.<\/p>\n

While their faces can\u2019t be seen, it feels as though the former actress is desperate to show off her future \u00adgeneration \u2014 something that Harry<\/a> will not be happy about.<\/p>\n

Having grown up in the spotlight, it\u2019s clear Harry detests the idea of his own children being under public scrutiny as he was.<\/p>\n

And for a couple hungry for a fistful of dollars, it\u2019s a dilemma that cuts to the heart of their carefully crafted brand.<\/p>\n

Publicly adopted by the Sussexes in March 2023, just in time for the christening of Lilibet Diana.<\/p>\n

The result? Two grounded, successful adults who have navigated commercial and public lives on their own terms, not trapped in the royal fishbowl.<\/p>\n

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, by contrast, are already pawns in a publicity paradox.<\/p>\n

The public is shown a toddler\u2019s back here, a grainy birthday snapshot there \u2014 enough to spark curiosity, but never enough to satisfy it.<\/p>\n

One of her close friends, tennis legend Serena Williams<\/a>, has launched her own children\u2019s clothing range using her own daughters, Olympia, seven and Adira, 18 months, as models in the advertising campaign.<\/p>\n

The wealthy and powerful couple do not need to make stars of their children, but the expectation in America is that if you have a family, you show them off.<\/p>\n

One of the world\u2019s most famous wellness and lifestyle brand owners, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has long let her Goop<\/a> followers into her real home and shown off her children.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Meghan is filming her new Netflix show<\/a>, \u2018With Love, Meghan\u2019 in a hired mansion and all that is revealed of Archie and Lilibet is the backs of their heads.<\/p>\n

That might be acceptable in the UK, where the likes of Holly Willoughby<\/a> does the same.<\/p>\n

But in the States, there\u2019s much more competition and a hunger to see the American Dream play out in real life.<\/p>\n

And make no mistake, these are not ordinary children.<\/p>\n

That lineage carries weight, whether they like it or not. Public curiosity is not a bug \u2014 it\u2019s the cost of the platform their parents are trading on.<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t this precisely why Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth urged the Sussexes to rethink their plans before \u201cMegxit\u201d?<\/p>\n

So when Meghan launches a lifestyle brand and names a dessert after Lilibet, it\u2019s not homage. Of course it\u2019s marketing.<\/p>\n

Everything in Montecito<\/a> is planned to within an inch of its life \u2014 from the family snaps to the product drops.<\/p>\n

The children are central to that Sussex strategy, whether they are fully visible or not \u2014 something that might make Harry, who is desperate to protect the children\u2019s anonymity, feel very uneasy indeed.<\/p>\n

Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret<\/a> \u2014 the original Lilibet and Bud \u2014 romped in staged photos at 145 Piccadilly, snapped by celebrity photographer Marcus Adams on the orders of their grandfather, King George V<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The young Princess Elizabeth \u2014 the future Queen \u2014 even appeared on Canadian currency when she was a little girl.<\/p>\n

The girls promised continuity, warming the public\u2019s heart; a distraction from the future Edward VIII\u2019s antics that ultimately led to his abdication, after his PR-conscious father died in 1936.<\/p>\n

Princess Diana<\/a> too posed with her sons on the ski slopes to show the Crown had a heart.<\/p>\n

Even William<\/a> and Catherine<\/a>, masters of the modern monarchy, release polished portraits of their children that toe the line between sincerity and savvy.<\/p>\n

But the Sussex version feels different, monetised \u2014 and frankly, sometimes a touch daft.<\/p>\n

They dangle access without granting it.<\/p>\n

They court attention while condemning it. It\u2019s not just selective. It\u2019s transactional.<\/p>\n

And what of the children? Born into all this fuss. They didn\u2019t choose the spotlight.<\/p>\n

But they cannot escape it, either \u2014 not when their images, or lack thereof, are used to drive clicks, sell brands and build a narrative of noble independence.<\/p>\n
