{"id":119440,"date":"2025-05-21T09:35:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T09:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/119440\/"},"modified":"2025-05-21T09:35:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T09:35:11","slug":"robbie-williams-announces-new-album-britpop-shares-blistering-single-with-black-sabbaths-tony-iommi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/119440\/","title":{"rendered":"Robbie Williams announces new album &#8216;BRITPOP&#8217;, shares blistering single with Black Sabbath&#8217;s Tony Iommi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/robbie-williams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robbie Williams<\/a> has announced his new album \u2018BRITPOP\u2019, previewing the record with a new track featuring a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/black-sabbath\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Black Sabbath<\/a> legend.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"post-content-read-more\">\n<li><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/film-reviews\/better-man-review-robbie-williams-strangest-music-biopic-3807590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u2018Better Man\u2019 review: Robbie Williams flick might be the strangest music biopic ever<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/take-that\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Take That<\/a> star has today (May 21) shared news of his first studio album in almost a decade, previewing the record with brand new track \u2018Rocket\u2019, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/nme-next.netlify.app\/artists\/tony-iommi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tony Iommi<\/a>, which he\u2019d previously teased during\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/film-interviews\/robbie-williams-director-michael-gracey-biopic-better-man-interview-3821636\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an interview with NME<\/a> while promoting his biopic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/film-reviews\/better-man-review-robbie-williams-strangest-music-biopic-3807590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Better Man<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis [track] is massive guitars, as you can imagine,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/robbie-williams-teases-new-album-featuring-glenn-hughes-and-black-sabbaths-tony-iommi-3825653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he\u2019d previously said of the song<\/a>, the music video for which is set for release this Friday (May 23). \u201cIt\u2019s adrenaline-filled and balls-to-the-wall.\u201d He also said that while the track was more rock-influenced, \u201cpop songs turned up along the way\u201d while he was working on the album.<\/p>\n<p>Touching on that in a recent press release, Williams said he set out to create the album he wanted to write after leaving Take That in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British Music,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it\u2019s raw, there are more guitars and it\u2019s an album that\u2019s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There\u2019s some \u2018Brit\u2019 in there and there\u2019s certainly some \u2018pop\u2019 too \u2013 I\u2019m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I\u2019m excited for fans to hear this album.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>He rounded-off by saying he couldn\u2019t wait to \u201cperform a song or two from it on my upcoming \u2018BRITPOP\u2019 tour, which I\u2019m opening in the UK, naturally.\u201d\u00a0Out on Columbia Records this autumn, you can pre-order the new album <a href=\"https:\/\/robbiewilliams.com\/collections\/britpop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, with fans who do so before 11.59pm on May 27 in for a chance at winning a meet and greet with Williams at any show on the upcoming tour.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly named the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/robbie-williams-2025-uk-ireland-europe-tour-buy-tickets-3811519#:~:text=Robbie%20Williams%20has%20announced%20details,Find%20ticket%20details%20below.&amp;text=The%20pop%20icon%20and%20former,in%20Edinburgh%20on%20May%2031.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robbie Williams Live 2025<\/a>\u2019 tour, the upcoming stadium dates will see the \u2018Candy\u2019 singer perform in cities across the UK, Ireland and Europe this summer \u2013kicking off next week (May 31) in Edinburgh before making stops in London, Manchester and Bath.<\/p>\n<p>The tour will then continue across Europe with dates in countries including Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Sweden. As for the shows? They\u2019re gonna be incredible, off-the-scale special,\u201d before going as far as calling it a \u201chealing moment for our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/liam-gallagher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liam Gallagher<\/a>\u00a0reading his phone on the toilet would be more charismatic and intriguing than 99.9% of the world\u2019s population at their most enigmatic.
