An additional nugget on DOOM: The Dark Ages\u2019<\/a> performance has been shared by journalist Chris Dring on X<\/a> (or Twitter<\/a>), who says analyst firm Ampere is estimating<\/a> over two million of the game\u2019s players so far are on Xbox.<\/p>\n

Over 2m of which are on Xbox, according to Ampere. Power of Game Pass.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear if this includes both Xbox Series X|S consoles and Microsoft\u2019s PC storefront, but either way it\u2019s safe to assume that a significant portion of those players are using Xbox Game Pass<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll probably never got a full breakdown of the release\u2019s sales, but it\u2019s an interesting statistic nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Original Story:<\/strong> DOOM: The Dark Ages<\/a> has been played by more than three million users since its release last week, which makes it the biggest launch for developer id Software in its entire history.<\/p>\n

Bethesda shared the news in a tweet, where it also confirmed the new release had reached the milestone seven times faster than the previous game, DOOM Eternal<\/a>. As well as being for sale at full price across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, it was also included in Game Pass on day one.<\/p>\n

As for the comparison with DOOM Eternal, the middle title in the trilogy did not launch on Game Pass, but it did come to the service roughly six months after release.<\/p>\n

The update flies in the face of fan concern that brewed over the weekend, where hobbyist analysts tracked the game’s concurrent user stats on Steam, which never broke 32,000 players. When compared to other recent releases like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/a> and Oblivion Remastered<\/a>, it didn’t look like the FPS was doing particularly well. Now, however, with the update from Bethesda, it appears that narrative is false.<\/p>\n
