Birmingham City chiefs Knighthead are building a Sports Quarter in the heart of Birmingham with a 62,000-seater stadium\"BirminghamBirmingham City chairman Tom Wagner<\/p>\n

Knighthead Capital Management are hoovering up land in East Birmingham to build their game-changing \u00a33 billion Sports Quarter.<\/p>\n

Birmingham City\u2019s<\/a> American owners unveiled plans to build the Sports Quarter in April 2024 and chairman Tom Wagner<\/a> has been in dialogue with the Government to arrange planning and transport ever since.<\/a><\/p>\n

Wagner has the support of West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker and has made progress with the Labour Government since the turn of the year.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Knighthead<\/a> have continued to purchase land around the 48-acre site formerly known as Birmingham<\/a> Wheels.<\/p>\n

Wagner, along with Knighthead colleagues Kyle Kneisly and Laura Torrado, plus Blues\u2019 head of infrastructure Nick Smith are listed as directors on two companies on Companies House \u2013 Winter Sun 2023 and Red Fox 2023 \u2013 that are being used to hoard land in East Birmingham.<\/p>\n

Winter Sun recently took control of a number of houses on the St Andrew\u2019s industrial estate, more houses on Crown Lane and Garrison Lane, plus land on Garrison Lane.<\/p>\n

Documents also reveal that land has been purchased on the north east side of the Tilton Road.<\/p>\n

We now know that Knighthead\u2019s holding in East Birmingham now comfortably exceeds the 60 acres they purchased in 2024 and it will be used to build more than just a stadium.<\/p>\n

Wagner recently confirmed that the capacity of the stadium will be 62,000 seats,<\/a> making it the largest facility of its type in the Midlands and placing it in the top 10 in England.<\/p>\n

The stadium will only be the centrepiece of the Sports Quarter with offices, restaurants and entertainment spaces making it an area that Wagner hopes will be used 365 days per year.<\/p>\n
