\n\tLondon\u2019s National Theatre<\/a> has unveiled its 2027 program, with Paul Mescal<\/a>, Emma Corrin<\/a> and Emilia Clarke<\/a> topping a star-heavy slate of 18 productions, eight of them world premieres, spanning the venue\u2019s three stages and beyond.<\/p>\n

\n\tMescal returns to the Lyttelton theater for a repertory season, playing Biff Loman in Rebecca Frecknall\u2019s staging of Arthur Miller\u2019s \u201cDeath of a Salesman\u201d before switching to the role of Michael Carney in Caitr\u00edona McLaughlin\u2019s production of Tom Murphy\u2019s \u201cA Whistle in the Dark,\u201d a co-production with Ireland\u2019s Abbey Theatre. Tracy Letts makes his U.K. stage acting debut as Willy Loman opposite Monica Dolan\u2019s Linda Loman, with Ciar\u00e1n Hinds also joining the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tEmma Corrin will star as Catharine Holly in Michael Grandage\u2019s revival of Tennessee Williams\u2019 \u201cSuddenly Last Summer,\u201d marking Grandage\u2019s first National Theatre production since 2010, with Arty Froushan and Harriet Walter rounding out the cast. Emilia Clarke will make her National Theatre debut in David Hare\u2019s \u201cPlenty,\u201d directed by former National Theatre director Richard Eyre, staged ahead of Hare\u2019s 80th birthday and the play\u2019s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n

\n\tUzo Aduba, a three-time Emmy winner, also debuts at the venue in \u201cThe Adeyemis \u2013 A Family Saga,\u201d Oladipo Agboluaje\u2019s family drama in the Dorfman theater, directed by Lucian Msamati in his own National Theatre directing debut. Rosamund Pike will make her Broadway debut reprising her role in Suzie Miller\u2019s \u201cInter Alia\u201d when the hit transfers to the Music Box Theater from Nov. 10, directed by Justin Martin, with co-stars Jamie Glover and Cormac McAlinden also debuting on Broadway.<\/p>\n

\n\tIndhu Rubasingham, director and co-chief executive of the National Theatre, said next year\u2019s program \u201cbrings together a remarkable range of work that looks across the last century to explore the perspectives, cultures and conflicts that continue to shape our world.\u201d Kate Varah, executive director and co-chief executive, said the 2027 slate \u201creflects a scale, ambition and reach that places us at the heart of the U.K.\u2019s thriving cultural ecosystem,\u201d pointing to a National Theatre audience that now spans 184 countries.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe remaining world premieres include James Graham\u2019s \u201cMajor,\u201d reuniting the writer with director Jeremy Herrin after their acclaimed \u201cThis House\u201d to dramatize John Major\u2019s rise to prime minister, and Rubasingham\u2019s staging of Moira Buffini\u2019s \u201cThe Great Indaba,\u201d a co-production with MGC dramatizing the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. Carmen Nasr\u2019s \u201cSamira,\u201d set during the Arab Spring and directed by Emily Burns, stars May Calamawy, Joshua McGuire and Sirine Saba.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso opening are Natasha Gordon\u2019s stage adaptation of Bernardine Evaristo\u2019s \u201cMr Loverman,\u201d directed by Paulette Randall with a cast including Gary Beadle, Jo Martin and Danny Sapani; Phyllida Lloyd\u2019s new musical \u201cGlorious Madness,\u201d built around songs written by Joan Armatrading, with Iman Qureshi penning the book and KPPL Productions co-producing; Punchdrunk\u2019s immersive \u201cGhostlight,\u201d conceived and directed by Felix Barrett and curated by Lucy Kirkwood to mark 50 years since the National Theatre\u2019s South Bank home opened; and \u201cThe Last Wild,\u201d a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre adapted by Jude Christian and directed by Unicorn Artistic Director Rachel Bagshaw for primary school and family audiences.<\/p>\n

\n\tBeyond the rep season, the classics slate includes a revival of \u201cWest Side Story\u201d co-directed by Marianne Elliott and Miranda Cromwell, using Jerome Robbins\u2019 original choreography as reproduced by Julio Monge, and Robert Hastie\u2019s staging of Tom Stoppard\u2019s \u201cRosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,\u201d marking 60 years since its original London and Broadway productions and starring Mawaan Rizwan and George Fouracres.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn tour and in transfer, Jim Cartwright\u2019s \u201cThe Rise and Fall of Little Voice\u201d moves from its Dorfman run to seven regional theaters, directed by Hastie with a cast including Francesca Mills, Jill Halfpenny and Paul Chuckle. The stage adaptation of \u201cBallet Shoes\u201d embarks on a U.K. tour with Chris Harper Productions as co-producer, with casting including Anton Du Beke; Frozen Light will provide multisensory performances for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities at select venues, with separate access performances offered across the wider tour. The musical \u201cPride\u201d transfers to London\u2019s Bridge Theatre from Nov. 12 following sold-out runs at the Dorfman and Cardiff\u2019s Sherman Theatre.<\/p>\n
