Prince William<\/strong><\/a> is reportedly keeping his distance as Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> settles back into life in Britain with Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a>, with those close to the royal family suggesting the brothers are nowhere near a reconciliation.<\/p>\n

Former royal butler Grant Harrold<\/strong><\/a> told Us Weekly<\/a> on Wednesday, September 9, that William, 44, remains wary of Harry’s intentions following years of tension.<\/p>\n

“William will be watching his brother very closely and trying to work out what his game plan is,” Harrold said.<\/p>\n

He added, “I don’t believe he’s happy Harry is back in the U.K. at all.”<\/p>\n

Harry, 41, Meghan, 45, and their children, Prince Archie<\/strong><\/a>, 7, and Princess Lilibet<\/strong><\/a>, 5, returned to Britain after spending six years in California. They are living in a non-royal residence and reportedly exploring homes in the Cotswolds.<\/p>\n

This update comes just days after the palace publicly clarified Harry and Meghan’s status following their return to Britain.<\/p>\n

As Star<\/a> previously reported<\/a>, a palace office told the BBC<\/a> on September 7 that the couple remain non-working royals and are in the U.K. as “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”<\/p>\n

The statement reinforced that their move back has not restored any official royal role, adding another layer of scrutiny to how William and other senior royals are approaching Harry’s return<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in 2020 before moving to California.<\/p>\n
