Lorraine Kelly<\/a> is likely about to spend a lot more time with her husband Steve Smith<\/a> after ITV Daytime bosses announced huge cuts on Tuesday with job losses in excess of 220.<\/p>\n

The Scottish presenter, 65, faced the brunt of the cuts with Good Morning Britain<\/a> now taking her 9-10am slot for 22 weeks of the year.<\/p>\n

For the remaining 30 weeks of the year, Lorraine will present five days a week, meaning her Friday stand-in presenters Ranvir Singh<\/a> and Christine Lampard<\/a> are no longer needed for the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lorraine’s show has also been slashed in half, now running for just 30 minutes from 9:30am to 10am.<\/p>\n

As such, the host will now have more time on her hands to spend with her beloved husband of more than\u00a032 years.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0ITV star occasionally shares snaps of herself alongside Steve, who is a TV cameraman, to her Instagram but their relationship has mostly been kept out of the public eye.<\/p>\n

They\u00a0married in 1992 and share one daughter, Rosie, 30, who welcomed her first daughter and Lorraine’s first granddaughter back in August 2024.<\/p>\n

Steve has famously stayed out of the spotlight and in his wife’s shadow, with Lorraine joking ‘his idea of hell would be a premiere’ – but he understands the demands of her role in the entertainment world.<\/p>\n

Lorraine added: ‘His idea of hell on earth would be at something like a premiere. It would be like having needles stuck in his eyes. That does help. It must be very odd being with someone who enjoys walking down a red carpet.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The host also lauded her partner for his support when she was going through perimenopause.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said: ‘It was absolutely horrible. I completely lost myself. My husband didn’t know what was going on. He said, “what can I do, how can I help?” It was him who said, “you have to get some help.”‘<\/p>\n

In 2021,\u00a0Lorraine gave a rare insight to her marriage with Steve, revealing their sex life is ‘toddling along nicely’.<\/p>\n

The daytime television presenter said the secret to keeping intimacy alive is ‘having confidence in yourself, adding that ‘a lot of older women can feel invisible’.<\/p>\n

Two years later, Lorraine was left blushing when Ben Shephard shared the very racy texts her husband sends her during her live shows.<\/p>\n

Ben and co-host Susanna Reid were wrapping up Good Morning Britain before doing a live link to Lorraine, with the presenter unable to resist bringing up an article involving her and Steve.<\/p>\n

And Lorraine was clearly blindsided by her partner’s saucy messages being revealed as she asked Ben: ‘How did they get hold of that?’<\/p>\n

During the live link where Lorraine explained what was coming up on her show, Ben quizzed her about the newspaper article, teasing: ‘It would appear he\u2019s very generous with his affections while you\u2019re on air.<\/p>\n

‘He often likes to say how wonderful you\u2019re looking in the morning in an affectionate way.’<\/p>\n

To which a red-faced Lorraine responded: ‘It depends what I’m wearing. It depends how much I’m showing.’<\/p>\n

Going into further detail, she continued: ‘Sometimes he does say “Nice boobs”, before asking of the story: ‘How did they get hold of that? Where did that come from? Have I been talking too much again?’<\/p>\n

And while Ben suggested Steve could be the source, Lorraine did in fact spill the beans herself in an interview with Woman’s Weekly magazine.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Susanna said of the situation: ‘As we\u2019re coming up to Valentine\u2019s Day, how lovely. Your husband still texts you to say “Nice boobs”.’<\/p>\n

With Ben piping up, saying: ‘Next time Lorraine\u2019s on her show and she looks down at her phone, it could be Steve sending a little message.’<\/p>\n

However, Lorraine didn’t feel so sure at this as pointing to her geometric print shirt dress which was buttoned up to the neck, she said: ‘This dress isn\u2019t going to get any comments from him this morning though, Ben.’<\/p>\n

As Ben replied: ‘I\u2019m sure he will send you something lovely regardless.’<\/p>\n

Concluding the light-hearted exchange, Susanna said: ‘You always look fab Lorraine. There are lots of serious issues, so it\u2019s nice to have a moment of joy.’<\/p>\n

In her previous chat with Women’s Weekly, Lorraine told how the secret to keeping her marriage alive is ‘keeping things flirty’.<\/p>\n

She explained: ‘Of course intimacy is important at whatever stage of a relationship you’re in – you’ve got to keep that alive. After 30 years, Steve still fancies me.’<\/p>\n

Going on to reveal the racy exchange between herself and her husband of which Ben referred to, she continued: ‘He’s a real boob man and will text during the show if I’ve got a dress on to say ‘Nice Boobs’! It’s good to still be flirty.’<\/p>\n

It comes after she revealed the secret to happy a marriage, telling FEMAIL: ‘I say don’t take each other for granted and make each other laugh.’<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Lorraine also previously\u00a0detailed her Valentine’s Day plans with her husband in 2023 – and said the ‘little things count’ when it comes to keeping their romance alive.<\/p>\n

She admitted she is ‘not into big gestures’ but loves it when her beau cooks for her and enjoys a nice quiet night in together.<\/p>\n

Lorraine told Weight Watchers: ‘There is nothing like a relaxing evening with the one you love. Steve and I are planning to stay at home with some nice food and crack open a bottle of red together and enjoy it with a film.<\/p>\n

‘We\u2019ve been together for years of course, but it’s still nice to do something thoughtful to mark the day.’<\/p>\n

Lorraine revealed she will be enjoying a lavish meal at home during the romantic day and will complete it with strawberries and chocolate for dessert.<\/p>\n

She continued: ‘Valentine\u2019s Day dinner is special and a little more indulgent. Something classic, like a steak with red wine is a gorgeous thing to eat on Valentine\u2019s Day and obviously Steve is thrilled with a choice like that!<\/p>\n

‘There is no Valentine\u2019s Day meal without dessert. Strawberries and chocolate is one of my favourite food pairings on any given day, but especially on Valentine’s Day.’<\/p>\n

Lorraine also added that ‘remembering things the other person likes’ is always a nice gesture in showing how much you care.<\/p>\n

To which Lorraine replied: ‘Do you know what? I think I asked. I think it was me. Isn’t that awful? I can’t really remember it.<\/p>\n

‘But I’m sure I was sitting one night and I said, “Do you know what? I think we should”. It was one of those.’ She added: ‘It wasn’t very romantic. But actually that doesn’t matter.’<\/p>\n

Kate told the Scottish presenter she admired how he ‘does what he’s told from the get-go’, while Ben joked: ‘It wasn’t even a question, was it?’.<\/p>\n

Lorraine has previously spoke about her nuptials and said she regretted her choice of wedding dress.<\/p>\n

She told Hello Magazine: ‘It was such a small one, it was wee, it really was. All I wanted was men in kilts and pipers. There was no real plan. It was very, very traditional.<\/p>\n

‘My dress… Uyuy-yuy. It was 1992 so it was kind of like a Princess Diana bouffant thing with big sleeves \u2013 oh God. We could all get in it. We could all fit in my dress. I’ve still got it.’<\/p>\n

More recently, Lorraine told how her husband of 32 years Steve regularly checks her breasts for lumps.<\/p>\n

The TV presenter joked that he is a ‘selfless’ man because of the act.<\/p>\n

Lorraine admitted that she is ‘fastidious about mammograms’ and that she knows all ‘boobies are different’, but when it comes to thorough checking, she enlists the help of her husband.<\/p>\n

The Scottish star, who runs the ‘Change and Check’ campaign, which has helped women get an early breast cancer diagnosis – potentially saving their lives, said: ‘Steve regularly checks mine… selfless, he is. Selfless!’<\/p>\n

She added: ‘But that’s great. He probably knows them better than I do. It’s the same with women and men checking for testicular cancer.’<\/p>\n

Staff at Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show are reportedly worried she will quit after it was announced the series has been cut to air for only 30 weeks a year and from an hour to 30 minutes<\/p>\n

The Change and Check campaign, which launched in 2019 to show women how to check themselves for signs of breast cancer, was championed by Lorraine’s friend and producer Helen Addis who was diagnosed aged 39.<\/p>\n

Posters and stickers which show what signs to look out for, are put in hundreds of changing rooms nationwide.<\/p>\n

Writing for MailOnline at the time of the launch, Lorraine said: ‘The stickers show a range of images that highlight the red flags for breast cancer.<\/p>\n

‘It could be lumps in the breast or under the armpit, or other signs such as a discharge or bleeding from the nipple, swelling or a change in breast or nipple shape, puckering or dimpling of the skin, unusual pain, or a rash on the breast.’<\/p>\n

She added: ‘Of course, our boobs are all different. What is normal for you might not be normal for me.’<\/p>\n

Staff at Lorraine’s ITV show are reportedly worried she will quit after it was announced the series has been cut to air for only 30 weeks a year and from an hour to 30 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A source told\u00a0The Mirror: ‘There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines.<\/p>\n

‘It’s hard to see how standards won’t fall\u2026 and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. Lorraine and her team are perfectionists – it’s why the show is loved by so many.’<\/p>\n

A second source said morale is now low among employees, adding: ‘Staff are beside themselves, and have been in tears constantly. It doesn’t make any sense given the trajectory the show is on.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

MailOnline contacted representatives for ITV and Lorraine Kelly for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lorraine\u00a0presented fewer than 60 per cent of the editions of her show broadcast in 2024, with Christine and Ranvir often filling in for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The presenter said her absences were initially due to caring for her sick mother but then also became about her desire to do other things.<\/p>\n

She told The Guardian<\/a>: ‘It’s really hurtful actually. It really is. I’ve not spoken about it before. I’m a grafter and I work really hard and I’ve had to take Fridays off for the past year. I just thought it was weird to care so much.<\/p>\n

‘Initially, it was for my mum who has been ill. And it sort of brings you into line with everyone else because if you look at This Morning, everybody else does four days.<\/p>\n

‘And as I’m getting older, I want to do other things, more writing, all of that. Mate, I’ve been doing this for 40 years, working my a**e off.’<\/p>\n

ITV sources told MailOnline that they have decided to cut resources on their daytime schedule so that the network can invest in more drama programmes.<\/p>\n

One said: ‘There is a need to cost save but also so that the right money can go to the right shows and with everything getting more expensive these things have to be looked at.’<\/p>\n

The source added: ‘Christine and Ranvir remain part of the ITV daytime family.’<\/p>\n

This Morning, whose presenters include Alison Hammond, Ben Shepherd, and Cat Deeley, remains untouched.<\/p>\n

It was also announced that ITV Studios will no longer make Good Morning Britain but instead it will be made by ITN – the organisation which makes ITV News.<\/p>\n

That means that there could be a merger between the staff working on GMB – which is hosted by Susanna Reid – and the channel’s news bulletins.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, ITV said that it is unlikely any on-screen talent will be axed.<\/p>\n

An ITV source insisted that the changes have not be influenced by any of the show’s performances, saying: ‘We recognise daytime is a very popular genre and these changes and efficiencies are about preserving the future of the genre, whilst also funding additional investment in dramas like Mr Bates vs The Post Office and in coverage of the biggest sporting events like next year’s football World Cup as well as the UK’s biggest reality and entertainment shows.<\/p>\n

‘This has nothing to do with under performance, the bosses are very pleased with all four shows. This Morning and GMB have escaped unscathed, their social media footprint is booming.’<\/p>\n

Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, explained the changes: ‘Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.<\/p>\n

‘These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.’<\/p>\n

Lygo added: ‘I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition.<\/p>\n

‘Daytime has been a core element of ITV’s schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade.’<\/p>\n
