{"id":120431,"date":"2025-05-21T18:08:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T18:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/120431\/"},"modified":"2025-05-21T18:08:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T18:08:08","slug":"muslim-brotherhood-linked-groups-tried-to-influence-eu-report-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/120431\/","title":{"rendered":"Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups tried to influence EU: report \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>France has in recent days gone to great lengths to protect its secular nature. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-eu-grants-antisemitism-islamism-hate-speech-secularism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earlier this week,<\/a> France\u2019s Europe Minister Benjamin Haddad called for tighter checks on the way the EU allocates grants following allegations that Brussels funded campaigns that did not respect France\u2019s secular values, and purportedly entities linked to Islamist movements.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/13036426-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6643215\"  \/>France\u2019s Europe Minister Benjamin Haddad called for tighter checks on the way the EU allocates grants. | Pool Photo by Neil Hall via EPA<\/p>\n<p>Macron has tasked his government with proposing measures to fight the Muslim Brotherhood\u2019s influence, which are expected to be discussed next month, the president\u2019s office said Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Early version leaked<\/p>\n<p>An early version of the report was leaked to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/actualite-france\/reseaux-tentaculaires-organisation-secrete-quartiers-islamises-le-rapport-choc-sur-les-freres-musulmans-qui-veulent-instaurer-la-charia-en-france-20250520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the conservative daily Le Figaro<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.valeursactuelles.com\/clubvaleurs\/politique\/rapport-confidentiel-sur-les-freres-musulmans-coulisses-et-revelations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">right-wing magazine Valeurs Actuelles<\/a>, which one high-ranking member of government, who was granted anonymity to speak freely, attributed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/bruno-retailleau-france-presidential-election-les-republicains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Retailleau, who had already had access to the full report due to his role, told reporters earlier this week that the document would demonstrate how \u201cIslamist infiltration is a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Presidential hopefuls jumped on the leak to put forward their own talking points even before the findings were officially made public. The president of the far-right National Rally, Jordan Bardella, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/J_Bardella\/status\/1925095455140216867\" target=\"_blank\">told France Inter<\/a> on Wednesday morning that the Muslim Brotherhood poses \u201cone of the most existential challenges facing our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Gabriel Attal \u2014 who briefly served as prime minister last year and now leads the centrist pro-Macron Renaissance party \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leparisien.fr\/politique\/interdiction-du-voile-chez-les-moins-de-15-ans-delit-de-communautarisme-les-propositions-chocs-dattal-20-05-2025-DJBP2UXZORC6RHCGR7ZLCIM26A.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responded by floating<\/a> ban on Muslim headscarves for those under 15.<\/p>\n<p>On the left, the far-left leader Jean-Luc M\u00e9lenchon accused the government of stoking Islamophobia and \u201cgiving credence\u201d to far-right talking points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s enough!
