it was confirmed on April 8 when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196653\/arsenal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arsenal<\/a> beat Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth place in the competition will be won tonight, with the winner of the Europa League earning that place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196659\/liverpool\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> and Arsenal have already sealed their spots in the competition next season.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s a massive final day of Premier League football ahead with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196654\/manchester-city\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Man City<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196669\/newcastle-united\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a>, Chelsea, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196670\/aston-villa\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aston Villa<\/a> and Nottingham Forest all in contention.<\/p>\n<p>Two of those sides will miss out, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1196660\/chelsea\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1225889\/nottingham-forest\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nottingham Forest<\/a> facing each other what amounts to an eliminator at the City Ground.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europa League<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Crystal Palace, who could still finish in the bottom half, are guaranteed a place the Europa League after their FA Cup win over Man City last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>There will be another English team in the Europa League but there are several complicating factors that affect who that could be.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Crystal Palace players celebrating a goal.\" height=\"640\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Getty\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/eberechi-eze-crystal-palace-celebrates-995669315.jpg\" data-caption=\"Crystal Palace are into the Europa League after winning the FA Cup\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/eberechi-eze-crystal-palace-celebrates-995669315.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4<\/p>\n<p>Crystal Palace are into the Europa League after winning the FA CupCredit: Getty<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea and Newcastle will have the most say on the outcome, both are still able to finish in the top five and earn a Champions League spot.<\/p>\n<p>However, as EFL Cup winners, Newcastle are already guaranteed a place in the Europa Conference League.<\/p>\n<p>So if they finish in the top six, that Conference League place transfers to the team that finishes seventh.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea take part in this season&#8217;s Conference League final next Wednesday, where they are favourites to beat Real Betis.<\/p>\n<p>Should they list the trophy, they would be guaranteed a position in the Europa League as winners.<\/p>\n<p>However, like Newcastle, they could still finish in a Champions league slot &#8211; which would have knock on effects to other teams.<\/p>\n<p>If Chelsea also MISS out on the European slots and finish seventh themselves, but then go on and win the Conference League, they would still jump into the Europa League.<\/p>\n<p>That would mean the team that finish eighth in the Premier League &#8211; either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/3571589\/brighton-hove-albion\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brighton<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sport\/football\/team\/1225644\/brentford\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brentford<\/a> &#8211;
