The IPL management and the BCCI are under fire for a controversial mid-season rule change, this time from a franchise.\n<\/p>\n

KKR management has submitted a written complaint to the BCCI, showcasing their strong objection towards the new rule that adds another 60 minutes of wait time to matches that are interrupted by rain, making it a total of 120 minutes.\n<\/p>\n

The problem for KKR is that this rule was implemented for matches after 20th May, while KKR had already lost the tournament due to the very same reason on 17th May.\n<\/p>\n

Their major argument is that if they had one hour of extra time to hold even a 5-over game, they would have had the chance to win and continue their fight for the tournament.\n<\/p>\n

This mid-season rule change is certainly creating trouble within the tournament. The venues selected for matches post-resumption were chosen in such a way that rain doesn\u2019t affect any games, making most of the South Indian stadiums, except Bengaluru, unavailable for play.\n<\/p>\n

Hence, there is little to no sense that the rules be amended once again, that too in an inconsistent manner, to specifically aid a few teams.\n<\/p>\n

With the BCCI under fire, it will be interesting to see if the public receives a clear clarification regarding the reason at all, which it most probably won\u2019t, if the board\u2019s previous track record of transparency is anything to go by.<\/p>\n
