{"id":121184,"date":"2025-05-22T00:39:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T00:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/121184\/"},"modified":"2025-05-22T00:39:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T00:39:12","slug":"americas-cutest-bear-cub-is-thriving-in-shelter-after-being-abandoned-by-his-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/121184\/","title":{"rendered":"America&#8217;s cutest bear cub is thriving in shelter after being abandoned by his mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"author-section byline-plain\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/profile-674\/rachel-bowman.html\" class=\"author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RACHEL BOWMAN FOR DAILYMAIL.COM<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  16:05 EDT, 21 May 2025   |  Updated:  17:12 EDT, 21 May 2025   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">An adorable bear cub who was discovered abandoned and starving in a <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/california\/index.html\" id=\"mol-8eeb7560-3673-11f0-9ed9-87d047a97dfb\" rel=\"noopener\">California<\/a> forest is now thriving in his new shelter, where he receives round-the-clock care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The two-month-old male arrived to the shelter &#8216;weak, underweight and alone,&#8217; according to the <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sdhumane.org\/about-us\/news-center\/press-releases\/san-diego-humane-society-62.pdf\">San Diego Humane Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Campers in Los Padres National Forest discovered the orphaned black bear cub on April 12.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) biologists tried to reunite the baby with his mother by returning him to the wild overnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">However, she did not return for him, and with no signs of a mama bear in the area, the cub was transported to San Diego Humane Society&#8217;s Ramona Wildlife Center on April 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;He was extremely fragile when he arrived,&#8217; said Autumn Welch, Wildlife Operations Manager at the center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;This is a very unusual case.
