April\u2019s figure is the fourth-highest on record\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Government borrowing rose to \u00a320.2 billion last month \u2013 \u00a31 billion higher than in April last year. Analysts predicted \u00a317.6 billion this time round. Substantially higher\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Central government departmental spending jumped by \u00a34.2 billion on last year thanks primarily to pay increases and inflation of costs.
