{"id":122407,"date":"2025-05-22T11:34:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T11:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/122407\/"},"modified":"2025-05-22T11:34:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T11:34:07","slug":"postecoglou-sack-chance-revealed-as-ornstein-reveals-clear-direction-of-travel-for-tottenham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/122407\/","title":{"rendered":"Postecoglou sack chance revealed as Ornstein reveals &#8216;clear direction of travel&#8217; for Tottenham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ange Postecoglou is still set for the sack despite leading Tottenham to their first trophy in 17 years as David Ornstein reveals the \u201cclear direction of travel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/tag\/brennan-johnson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brennan Johnson<\/a><\/strong> scored the only goal of the game as Spurs beat Manchester United to win the Europa League final, ending their trophy drought and qualifying for the Champions League in the process.<\/p>\n<p>But they\u2019ve endured a dismal domestic campaign, losing an incredible 21 of their 37 Premier League games as they sit 17th in the table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/postecoglou-sack-wrong-opinion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mea culpa, mate: We were wrong about Ange Postecoglou sack<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/keane-sack-postecoglou-dig-arsenal-tottenham-europa-league\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roy Keane, along with many others, believes Europa League glory won\u2019t save Postecoglou from the sack<\/a><\/strong> and Ornstein believes the Australian will still be shown the door despite chairman Daniel Levy now being given \u201ca bit more food for thought\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He told Sky Sports: \u201cThe clear direction of travel, as far as Tottenham\u2019s hierarchy goes has been to make a change this summer and it\u2019ll be fascinating to see if they follow through with that, I think it\u2019s most likely they will from an outside perspective but I think they\u2019ve got a bit more food for thought now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if they look at the evidence and that isn\u2019t just results, performances and injuries, then there\u2019s enormous room for improvement and they feel there\u2019s a very good squad there, they\u2019ve invested pretty heavily, it still needs some work on it and they need some good fortune with injuries. But it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if there\u2019s still a change there and it wouldn\u2019t surprise Ange Postecoglou either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Postecoglou believes his job isn\u2019t yet done at Spurs, insisting \u201cmate, I\u2019m a winner\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I\u2019ve done in my career is win,\u201d he said. \u201cEven Daniel [Levy, Spurs\u2019 chairman] said: \u2018We\u2019ve gone for winners [in the past] and now we have Ange.\u2019 Mate, I\u2019m a winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still building this team. We need to add some experience to it. I\u2019m the manager of the football club, that decision is not in my hands. All I care about is this thing [his medal]. The longer it goes, the harder it is to break that cycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could sense the nerves in everyone at the club and until you take that monkey off your back, you never understand what it feels like.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a young group and I hope by tasting this, the players feel different about themselves and what it means to them is unbelievable.
