He said: “We want the City to be a vibrant, thriving destination and to bring more workers, visitors, and businesses here. As the engine of the nation’s economy, we want to drive growth in financial and professional services at the local, national, and international levels. That is our contribution to this government’s number one mission – economic growth.”

“The Policing Plan sets out how the City Police will support this mission by protecting people and businesses from fraud, economic and cyber-crime, and by transforming the national response to these offences. In doing so it will combat crimes that have millions of victims a year, cause billions in financial losses, and which pose a real threat to our economic security”, he said.

He told elected Members that “this plan is about reducing crime, protecting people and firms, and building trust with the communities we serve”.

The three-year plan prioritises making the City of London Police one of the most inclusive and trusted police services in the country, cutting theft and violence, enhancing counter-terrorism measures, and making the City – already one of the world’s safest business districts – even more secure. It also aims to boost community engagement and put victims at the heart of policing.

Outlining the City of London Police’s role as the UK’s lead force for fraud, he said: “Fighting economic crime is not just about protecting individuals – it’s about safeguarding the engine of the UK economy.”

“Fraud and cybercrime are real threats to our economic security.
