The Split<\/a> star Nicola Walker<\/a> has been confirmed for a brand-new British series for Disney+<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Walker, who portrays Hannah Stern in the BBC legal drama<\/a>, will be starring alongside Flight of the Conchords<\/a>‘ Jemaine Clement<\/a> in a “twisted” comedy currently under the working title of Alice and Steve. <\/p>\n

The plot will see the titular duo’s lifelong friendship rocked when Steve starts dating Alice’s 26-year-old daughter Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith), with the development threatening their “families, futures and everything in between”.<\/p>\n

Dubbed an “emotional, messy and hilariously absurd ‘will they, won’t they’ anti-romantic comedy”, Alice and Steve’s lives are said to “never be the same again” as several questions are left “hanging in the balance”.<\/p>\n

The supporting cast for the six-part series includes Joel Fry<\/a>, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce and Marcia Warren, with the trio portraying Alice’s husband Daniel, son Dom and mother Val respectively.<\/p>\n

Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye are also starring, while Stath Lets Flats<\/a>‘ Tom Kingsley is directing from a script written by Sex Education<\/a>‘s Sophie Goodhart, with the latter also serving as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the fabulous world of friendship, motherhood, marriage frantic revenge and fierce love that Sophie Goodhart has created, and to be doing it with Jemaine Clement is completely joyful!” said Walker<\/a> in a statement.<\/p>\n

“I really relate to Steve \u2013 he’s classy, stylish and an all-round good guy \u2013 except for when he isn’t,” Clement added. “I’m excited to be working with the wonderful Nicola Walker and seeing how Steve and Alice’s relationship descends into absolute chaos.”<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re excited to be exploring the chaotic, compelling and hilarious lives of Alice and Steve as they find themselves plunged into this modern comedy of errors,” said Petra Fried, Joint Managing Director of Clerkenwell Films, who added the lead characters were “utterly distinctive”. <\/p>\n

“We’re thrilled to be bringing this twisted and hilarious story to Disney+ audiences – masterfully brought to life by British acting legend Nicola Walker, as you’ve never seen her before, alongside New Zealand’s comic royalty, Jemaine Clement.”<\/p>\n

Alice and Steve (working title) will be coming to Disney+, but doesn’t have a release window yet.<\/strong><\/p>\n
