Bernie Taylor<\/a> (Clair Norris<\/a>) is leaving EastEnders<\/a> after 8 years.<\/p>\n The character, who is the daughter of Karen Taylor <\/a>(Lorraine Stanley<\/a>), has certainly struggled to get back on her feet following the massive storyline involving her brother Keanu Taylor<\/a> (Danny Walters<\/a>).<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the BBC One soap has confirmed to Metro<\/strong> that Bernie will be leaving later this year. They said: \u2018We can confirm that Clair will be leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish her all the best for the\u00a0future.\u2019<\/p>\n As a result of producer Chris Clenshaw leaving and new boss Ben Wadey taking over, the show will undergo a few changes. <\/p>\n Usually when someone new takes over, a handful of characters depart the show, with Bernie Taylor being one of them.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes \u2013 it\u2019s nothing personal. The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn\u2019t really a surprise to Clair\u2019, a source said.<\/p>\n Continuing to The Sun<\/a>, they added: \u2018She was the last Taylor standing and it\u2019s time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.\u2019<\/p>\n When the Taylor family arrived in 2017, Bernie lived with her siblings Keanu, Keegan and twins Riley and Chatham.<\/p>\n \t\t They welcomed the arrival of eldest sibling Chantelle a couple of years later, but she was killed by her abusive husband Gray Atkins.<\/p>\n In December 2023, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) stabbed Keanu to death<\/a> in the Queen Vic. Linda and five other women then transported Keanu\u2019s body to the caf\u00e9 and buried him under the rubble.<\/p>\n Bernie eventually worked out that the characters \u2013 known to viewers as The Six \u2013 were responsible for her sibling\u2019s demise and, despite everything,\u00a0she kept shtum<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\t Ben Wadey previously\u00a0worked as a Storyliner and Story Editor<\/a>\u00a0on the serial, focussing on the show\u2019s 35th anniversary and introducing the Panesar clan.<\/p>\n He was also Story Producer on\u00a0the final series of Holby City<\/a>, before becoming the commissioning executive at\u00a0Channel 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n It usually takes a little while to see a new producer\u2019s ideas come into fruition, but Ben\u2019s forthcoming stint has already received significant recognition from\u00a0Kate Oates<\/a>, the Beeb\u2019s\u00a0Head of Continuing Drama.<\/a><\/p>\n This comes following a huge scoop for the show, which took home the gong for Best Soap and Continuing Drama at last night\u2019s\u00a0BAFTA TV Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n On the red carpet, Kate teased what was ahead<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tFollow Metro Soaps on WhatsApp and get all the latest spoilers first!\t\t\t<\/p>\n Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers?
