{"id":12326,"date":"2025-04-12T01:15:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T01:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/12326\/"},"modified":"2025-04-12T01:15:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-12T01:15:12","slug":"parkinsons-books-in-southport-hosts-five-djs-at-special-audio-book-record-store-day-celebration-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/12326\/","title":{"rendered":"Parkinson&#8217;s Books in Southport hosts five DJs at special Audio Book Record Store Day Celebration event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Andrew Brown Stand Up For Southport <\/p>\n<p>Parkinson\u2019s Books in Southport is looking forward to hosting its popular annual Record Store Day Celebrations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The iconic shop, at 361-363 Lord Street in Southport town centre, will host the Audio Book event between midday and midnight this Saturday (12th April 2025).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Admission is free before 5pm, with a ticket only event from 5pm onwards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson\u2019s Books will be open as usual during the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is a superb line-up of top local DJs including:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seani Mac\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miech Martin\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adam Rynhart\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Andy Parkinson<\/p>\n<p>Paulie\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You can buy tickets here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skiddle.com\/whats-on\/Southport\/Parkinsons-Books\/Audio-Book-Record-Store-Day-Celebration\/40645839\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tickets: Audio Book Record Store Day Celebration | Parkinsons Books Southport Sat 12 April 2025<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are \u00a322 plus booking free.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson\u2019s Books owner Andy Parkinson said: \u201cWe have been hosting our Record Store Day Celebration every year since 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have five great DJs, it\u2019s always a fantastic atmosphere.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Parkinsons-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57010\"\/>Parkinson\u2019s Books in Southport owned by Andy Parkinson is hosting its popular annual Audio Book Record Store Day Celebrations on Saturday (12th April 2025). <br \/>Photo by Andrew Brown Stand Up For Southport<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always sold all types of second records at Parkinson\u2019s, so people will be able to browse what we have.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are five or six shops in Southport town centre selling vinyl now, it\u2019s become a place that\u2019s a great day out for record collectors and DJs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have three floors of books and records open to the public, with our Record Store Day Celebration taking place on the first floor, where we have an Audio Book DJ booth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have some huge speakers stacked against the wall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom 5pm, people with tickets will be able to come along, enjoy the event and bring their own booze.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really looking forward to seeing everyone.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Parkinsons-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57011\"\/>Parkinson\u2019s Books in Southport owned by Andy Parkinson is hosting its popular annual Audio Book Record Store Day Celebrations on Saturday (12th April 2025). <br \/>Photo by Andrew Brown Stand Up For Southport<\/p>\n<p>Parkinsons of Southport \u2013 \u2018Not Just Any Old Bookshop\u2019 is boasted on its sign \u2013 has taken pride of place on Lord Street for the past four decades \u2013 a real treasure trove waiting to greet shoppers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many people don\u2019t know this much-admired family business exists due its hidden location.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The business is situated at the end of a small alleyway between the Lakeland clothes shop on one side and the former 92 Degrees coffee shop on the other side, near Lord Street\u2019s junction with Nevill Street.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once inside, visitors will find three floors \u2013 and an outside area \u2013 filled with thousands of rare books, seashells, collectibles, CDs, vinyl records, gemstones, rocks, antiques, minerals, fossils, maps, prints, manuscripts, curios, and much besides.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The shop has delighted generations of Sandgrounders and visitors alike for more than four decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson\u2019s Books was first opened on Princes Street in Southport town centre \u2013 opposite Les Dodd\u2019s snooker centre \u2013 by Tony Parkinson, Andy\u2019s Dad, back in 1981. Tony sadly passed away in December 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the late 1970s he had enjoyed doing book searches before going on to open his shop alongside his family. He had a Master Degree in Zoology and taught throughout Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 1983 the shop moved above Lakeland on Lord Street, before moving to its present site in 1986. It has been a popular fixture for families ever since.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Andy Parkinson is also a talented DJ who runs Audio Book, which brings music to events such as Southport Food and Drink Festival and in recent years has hosted special one-off Audio Book events at Parkinson\u2019s Books, showcasing local and international DJ talent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have a story for Stand Up For Southport?
