Chris Sutton has dropped a clear-cut assessment on Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim after the Red Devils lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manchester United reached the 2025 Europa League final<\/a> under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim<\/a> and met Tottenham in an all-English showdown in Spain.<\/p>\n

Tottenham inflicted a 1-0 win over United<\/a> at the San Mames Stadium on Wednesday evening and Spurs walked away with the Europa League trophy on the night.<\/p>\n

Brennan Johnson put Tottenham into the lead against United<\/a> in the first half and the Red Devils were unable to climb back into the Europa League final after the break.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have now punched their ticket to the Champions League for next season and United<\/a> will be without any European football for the 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Amorim, who left Sporting CP in 2024 and arrived at Old Trafford<\/a> last November, will end the current campaign without any major silverware as United manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss has faced a mammoth task in leading United\u2019s turbulent season after he replaced Erik ten Hag<\/a> in the Old Trafford dugout.<\/p>\n

Erik ten Hag started United\u2019s 2024-25 campaign<\/a> as Red Devils manager before the 55-year-old former Ajax boss was sacked by the Premier League club last October.<\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> now only have one match remaining in their lacklustre 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford under Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils will leave Bilbao without the Europa League trophy and will head back to England for their final Premier League clash of the season on the weekend.<\/p>\n

United will face Premier League side Aston Villa at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils\u2019 last match of the current campaign being scheduled for a 4pm UK kick-off time.<\/p>\n

Chris Sutton<\/a> has said that a key question from United\u2019s defeat to Spurs in the Europa League final will be whether or not Amorim was too late with his substitutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Man Utd, I thought they were flat all evening,\u201d Sutton explained on BBC Radio 5 Live, as per BBC Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas Ruben Amorim late making his substitutions? It\u2019s been a disappointing season since Amorim took over.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rio Ferdinand dropped his instant verdict on Man Utd\u2019s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rio Ferdinand<\/a> was on punditry for TNT Sports and former United defender insisted that Amorim will need \u201cmore time\u201d for his long-term project at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the San Mames Stadium after Spurs\u2019 win, he said on TNT Sports: \u201cRuben Amorim\u2019s way of playing compared to the past regime is very different.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of what he wants them to do \u2013 I think he needs more time; he hasn\u2019t had a pre-season.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe needs a recruitment window to then have real judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n

United languish in 16th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are only a point clear of Europa League winners Tottenham with one match remaining.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
