Your Ray-Ban Meta glasses are about to get a major upgrade with even more Meta AI features. From today, people in the UK will be able to ask their glasses about what they’re seeing, and the glasses will respond with smart, helpful answers or suggestions.

Imagine walking through a park and asking your glasses about the different types of trees you see, or getting information on different landmarks while you’re on a city tour. For example, if you are in Westminster and ask “Hey Meta, What am I looking at?” your glasses might respond with: “You’re looking at a view of Westminster Bridge and the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament, also known as Big Ben.”

Picture this: you’re in a specialty wine store and want to read labels in French or Italian. Just ask your glasses to translate the text and hear the information read back to you in English. Or maybe you’re at a museum, curious about an exhibit — Your glasses can help you learn more about what you are seeing. For example, “Hey Meta, tell me more about this Van Gogh painting” — your glasses can provide you with information and interesting facts instantly.

And soon in the UK, your glasses will be able to translate speech in real time between Spanish, French, Italian and English. When you’re talking to someone in one language e.g. Spanish, you’ll hear what they say in another language, e.g. French or English, through the glasses’ speakers. In a conversation, your response is translated for the other person to read in the Meta View app. Not only is this great for traveling, it will help break down language barriers and help you connect with others more easily. We plan to add support for more languages in the future.

Whether you’re exploring new places, capturing memories, or just curious about your surroundings, these AI-powered features are here to make your everyday experiences even more amazing. Just ask, and your glasses will do the rest.

This news follows the announcement we made last month, that Meta AI is now rolling out for free through the messaging apps people already know and love – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. This means that Meta AI is now available in more than 100 countries and territories.

We’re looking to bring these features to more countries in the future. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance the capabilities of Meta AI and bring cutting-edge technology to our users – including those in the rest of Europe.

Exciting news, UK!
