New three-time major winner Scottie Scheffler will be eyeing another quickfire victory as he headlines the field for the Charles Schwab Challenge this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scheffler<\/a> has won on his last two starts, backing up his recent victory at the Byron Nelson by clinching PGA Championship glory<\/a> at Quail Hollow on Sunday.<\/p>\n

After a slow start to the season, the 28-year-old is now fully back to his best<\/a>, and he\u2019ll be eager to keep winning this summer.<\/p>\n

He returns to Texas for the Charles Schwab at Colonial Country Club this week with another great chance of victory.<\/p>\n

Scheffler came second at this event last season, finishing only behind eventual champion Davis Riley.<\/p>\n

Charles Schwab Challenge: Date and how to follow<\/p>\n

The 2025 Charles Schwab will take place from Thursday, May 22 to Sunday, May 25.<\/p>\n

It is being held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas – the course is a par 70 and measures a total of 7,289 yards.<\/p>\n

Play will get underway at 1pm UK time over the opening two days and at 2pm on the weekend.<\/p>\n

The field will include 135 players and have a halfway cut on Friday.<\/p>\n

Scheffler is the top name in the field, while the other top 20 players in the world rankings include Hideki Matsuyama, Maverick McNealy and Tommy Fleetwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Robert MacIntyre, Brian Harman, Daniel Berger and Akshay Bhatia will also be teeing it up.<\/p>\n

PGA professional Michael Block has been given a special exemption, as have Danny Willett, Webb Simpson and Kevin Kisner.<\/p>\n

Scheffler will be in celebratory mood back in Texas after claiming his ‘hardest ever’ tournament win at the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n

Following victory at Quail Hollow, he said: “To step up when I needed to the most, this back nine will be one that I remember for a long time.<\/p>\n

“I felt like this was as hard as I battled for a tournament in my career. It was a pretty challenging week.<\/p>\n

“The first two days I did not swing it my best and I was able to post a score somehow. The last five holes yesterday [Saturday], that’s where I really kind of put myself ahead in the tournament.<\/p>\n

“I knew somebody was going to make a move on Sunday. <\/p>\n

“There’s too much talent in the game of golf for me to slap the ball around today with a three-shot lead – three shots in 18 holes is really not that much.<\/p>\n

“I did my best to keep executing shots and stay in my little bubble.<\/p>\n

“I just prepared for Jon to go out and have a great back nine as well. <\/p>\n

“He’s a great player and a great champion, and he does a really good job of stepping up in the big moments.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t really relax until I got the ball over the water on 17. I felt like after that, I could kind of limp on 18 with the lead that I had.”<\/p>\n
