and would no doubt love to cap it off with a second Roland Garros title.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old found success in his first clay court event of the year, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/carlos-alcaraz-sends-message-to-lorenzo-musetti-after-beating-him-in-the-monte-carlo-masters-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcaraz beat Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> to win the Monte-Carlo Masters.<\/p>\n<p>He then reached the final of the Barcelona Open, but sustained an injury in defeat to Holger Rune, which saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/carlos-alcaraz-sends-message-to-fans-on-social-media-after-withdrawing-from-the-madrid-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcaraz withdraw from the Madrid Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to action in Rome, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/when-carlos-alcaraz-plans-to-arrive-at-roland-garros-after-italian-open-final-victory-over-jannik-sinner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcaraz took down Jannik Sinner<\/a>, 7-6, 6-1, to win his first Italian Open title, completing the set of all three clay Masters 1000s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" clay season, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/juan-carlos-ferrero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Juan Carlos Ferrero<\/a> and Samuel Lopez often rotating between tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of his title defence in Paris, it has been confirmed who will be in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcaraz\u2019s<\/a> box at the 2025 French Open.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos Alcaraz will be coached by Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez at the French Open<\/p>\n<p>Spanish media outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marca.com\/tenis\/roland-garros\/2025\/05\/22\/juan-carlos-ferrero-samuel-lopez-estaran-alcaraz-roland-garros.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marca<\/a> has revealed who will be coaching Alcaraz at the 2025 French Open.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez and Ferrero will coach Alcaraz in Paris, as part of a seven-man team.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" \u2013 Doctor<\/li>\n<li>Alvaro Alcaraz \u2013 Training partner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ferrero oversaw Alcaraz\u2019s most recent triumph in Rome, but it was Lopez who guided the Spanish star to his first two titles of the year in Rotterdam and Monte-Carlo.<\/p>\n<p>The pair worked together at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/barcelona-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barcelona Open<\/a> earlier in the year, where Alcaraz finished as runner-up to Rune.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen if they can help the four-time Major champion return to another final at the tournament he won in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>How did Carlos Alcaraz win his first French Open title in 2024?<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz had traveled to Paris four times before 2024, making href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinner<\/a>, who had won their sole previous meeting on clay, in Croatia, two years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner looked to have the edge during the early goings, storming into a one-set lead, taking the first 6-2, before Alcaraz battled back to level things up at 2-6, 6-3.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Sinner clinched the third 6-3, leaving Alcaraz on the brink of elimination, facing a second consecutive French Open semi-final defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Bravely fighting back, Alcaraz took his game to another level, winning the fourth and fifth sets, 6-4, 6-3, advancing to his maiden Roland Garros final.<\/p>\n<p>There was still work to be done, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> awaited him on Court Philippe Chatrier.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the first set 6-3, it looked as if Alcaraz had things under control, before his German rival found a way back into the final.<\/p>\n<p>Zverev, still searching for his first Grand Slam title, put himself within a set of glory by taking the second, 6-2, and third, 7-5.<\/p>\n<p>For the second match in a row, Alcaraz knew he had to win the fourth and fifth sets to secure the win and did just that, dropping just three games as Zverev\u2019s dreams quickly faded.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>He was a champion in Paris, winning his third different Major, leaving him an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/australian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Open<\/a> title away from the Career Grand Slam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/carlos-alcaraz-sends-message-to-novak-djokovic-and-australian-open-fans-on-social-media-after-exiting-the-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcaraz failed to win the Australian Open<\/a> in January, but will certainly be looking to defend his French Open crown in 2025 and may be in with a good chance of doing just that.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos Alcaraz\u2019s route to the 2025 French Open title<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old won\u2019t be too disappointed with his French Open draw, having been placed in what many would consider to be the \u2018weaker\u2019 side of the bracket.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz will avoid the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Novak Djokovic<\/a>, Sinner, and Zverev until the final, should he make it that far.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"inline-links multi\">\n<li>F \u2013 Jannik Sinner<\/li>\n<li>SF \u2013 Taylor Nishikori<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By ranking, his projected route to the final doesn\u2019t look all that difficult, with the toughest test coming in the quarterfinals against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/rafael-nadal-reacts-after-casper-ruud-beats-jack-draper-to-win-the-madrid-open-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madrid Open champion Casper Ruud<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are, however, several dangerous players lurking in his half of the draw, including 2021 finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas and the in-form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/lorenzo-musetti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lorenzo Musetti<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell how the Spaniard will perform in 2025, but it\u2019ll certainly be interesting to see if he can defend his title.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz will begin his French Open title defence against Japan\u2019s Kei Nishikori when the tournament begins on
