The clay season is approaching its final tournament, as Roland Garros is set to get underway on the 25th of May in Paris.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The draw for the French Open<\/a> has been announced, with favourable paths to the final for the likes of Novak Djokovic<\/a> and Coco Gauff<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It will be the first time the event has taken place since 14-time champion Rafael Nadal retired<\/a>, marking the start of a new era in the French capital.<\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s side, however, an era is coming to an end for a former Roland Garros<\/a> quarter-finalist. <\/p>\n

Former world number four Caroline Garcia<\/a> took to social media to announce: \u201cDear tennis, it\u2019s time to say goodbye. After 15 years competing at the highest level, and more than 25 years putting pretty much every second of my life into it, I feel ready to start a new chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy tennis journey hasn\u2019t always been easy. Since my early days, tennis has been much more than just winning or losing. It\u2019s been love or hate. Happiness or anger.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStill, I\u2019m deeply grateful for this journey\u2014for everything tennis has given me, and for how much it\u2019s helped me become a strong, passionate, hard-working woman. But now, it\u2019s time for something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy body and my personal goals need it. Still, this is not over\u2014not just yet. I have a few tournaments left. The first one is at home, at Roland Garros. My 14th consecutive time being part of it. And my last. So to all my tennis family who\u2019ll be around: let\u2019s meet one more time, to dream, and fight together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garcia has never won a Grand Slam singles title in her career, but has come close on several occasions. <\/p>\n

Her best attempt came at the US Open in 2022, when she made it to the semi-final before bowing out to Ons Jabeur<\/a> in straight sets. <\/p>\n

At Roland Garros, Garcia\u2019s best campaign was a quarter-final finish in 2017, where she was defeated by second seed Karolina Pliskova. <\/p>\n

She has never made it past the Round of 16 at either the Australian Open or Wimbledon. <\/p>\n

Despite her lack of major titles in singles, Garcia is a two-time French Open champion in doubles, with victories in 2016 and 2022 partnering Kristina Mladenovic. <\/p>\n
