The messages, written in white text on a black background, appeared last week (May 19).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Deansgate advert calls on motorists to give \u2018Beeps for Boombox Barry\u2019, a nod to cyclist Barrington who lives in town and is known for blasting music out of a speaker in a bag-for-life, usually hung over his handlebars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Near Victoria station, one jokes: \u201cMancunians: A people who figured out how to split the atom, but not how to open an arena.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It\u2019s a reference to the delayed opening of Co-op Live, which celebrates its first birthday in early June. Other ads make light of Manchester\u2019s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-weather\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">weather<\/a>, with one declaring we\u2019re \u2018Vitamin D deficient and proud\u2019 due to the lack of sun.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Vit-D.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>(Image: F37 Foundry)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, the billboards are set to vanish on June 1 \u2014 meaning they can only be spotted in the city for a fortnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It\u2019s not clear at first glance what is being advertised, but a company has claimed responsibility for the stunts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">F37 Foundry is behind the campaign, and it is drumming up interest for its new F37 Mancunio typeface.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The company says the font is inspired by one of Manchester\u2019s last surviving wooden street signs, on St Michaels Place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Its founder, Rick Banks, added: \u201cWe\u2019ve always loved how Manchester carries its history in everyday places, like old street signs tucked away in quiet corners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThis campaign isn\u2019t about being loud; it\u2019s local-first, subtle and authentic, with smart, warm type designed for those who truly understand what makes this city unique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In total, six city centre billboards have been taken over in the campaign.
