Manchester United<\/a> may have a clear path to securing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokere<\/a>s, if the latest reports are to be believed.<\/p>\n

The Sweden international is expected to move on this summer, despite Sporting\u2019s recent Portuguese league title win, with several clubs across Europe reportedly interested. Among them is United, who appointed former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim<\/a> in November last year.<\/p>\n

Arsenal<\/a> have appeared to be the strongest competition for Gyokeres\u2019 signature, particularly given United\u2019s failure to qualify for any European competition next season.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils were narrowly beaten 1\u20130 by Tottenham in the Europa League<\/a> final in Bilbao earlier this week, yet another blow in what has been a dismal season for the club.<\/p>\n

However, David Ornstein offered an update on Arsenal\u2019s summer transfer plans in his latest Q&A for The Athletic<\/a>. According to the report, the Gunners are set to choose between Gyokeres and RB Leipzig\u2019s Benjamin Sesko as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear which of the two Arsenal will prioritise, but should they opt for Sesko, that could pave the way for United to make a clear move for Gyokeres. The striker\u2019s familiarity with Amorim may also help offset the lack of European football, should United firm up their interest.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils have also been strongly linked with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, while Ipswich Town\u2019s Liam Delap is another reported target.<\/p>\n

However, Chelsea<\/a> are also said to be monitoring the former Manchester City<\/a> man, which could complicate United\u2019s pursuit, with Delap expected to be available at a reduced fee this summer following Ipswich\u2019s relegation back to the Championship.<\/p>\n

United have just one fixture remaining in the 2024\/25 season, a Premier League<\/a> clash at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. Attention will then swiftly turn to next season and how the club intends to recover from a disappointing campaign, having amassed just 39 points from their 37 league matches so far.<\/p>\n
