Liverpool are making some big early moves in the summer transfer window as they look to retain their Premier League title next season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds are heading into a bank holiday weekend in which they will lift the league trophy and embark on a parade through the city.<\/p>\n

It had not seemed possible that the weekend could get better for Liverpool<\/a> supporters. However, after some enormous transfer news on Friday, it arguably just did.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because news has emerged that Liverpool are favourites to sign Florian Wirtz<\/a> from Bayer Leverkusen.<\/p>\n

The Reds have been attempting to convince the German of a move to Anfield<\/a> but were seen as being behind Bayern Munich in the race.<\/p>\n

But Liverpool have reportedly stolen a march to leave the Bundesliga champions red-faced. With such a big coup staring them in the face, it has been revealed what has played a deciding factor in Wirtz<\/a>\u2018s decision.<\/p>\n

It must be emphasised that this transfer is not done just yet. In order to get Wirtz out of Leverkusen, Liverpool are going to have to pay a record fee.<\/p>\n

However, as Rousing The Kop revealed on Friday, Liverpool have the funds to go big on Wirtz<\/a> and are now said to be confident of getting things done.<\/p>\n

Finances aside, though, it cannot be overstated how impressive it is that Liverpool have convinced one of Germany\u2019s biggest talents to reject his nation\u2019s most giant club.<\/p>\n

And according to Kicker<\/a>, the Reds have managed it with a little bit of magic from head coach Arne Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They claim that a conversation between Wirtz and Slot has played a \u2018decisive factor\u2019 in the Germany international turning down Bayern for Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Talks are also said to have taken place between Wirtz and Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, but with everything now reportedly pointing towards the No. 10 joining Liverpool, the former Man City captain appears to have been unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

Where will Slot play Wirtz?<\/p>\n

While Liverpool\u2019s move to sign Wirtz is hugely exciting, it also poses some fascinating questions over where Slot is planning to play his new, likely record signing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Given the funds Liverpool are looking to spend on Wirtz \u2013 which could reportedly be north of \u00a3120m \u2013 he simply has to be a starter for Slot.<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s biggest need in the market is a new centre-forward, and given the lack of absolute certainties in the market outside of Alexander Isak, perhaps that is what Wirtz will be to the Reds.<\/p>\n

There is also the option to play the former Koln youngster in an attacking midfield role or wide from the left. <\/p>\n

Wherever he plays and what it means for the rest of Liverpool\u2019s summer plans remains to be seen.
