Tottenham fans will love how Brennan Johnson has reacted after the Lilywhites secured the Europa League trophy, with the winger taking a shot at the club\u2019s critics for questioning Spurs\u2019 mentality.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the lead-up to the final, predictably, some pundits gave Tottenham no chance of lifting the trophy due to their history<\/a>, and that clearly did not go down well with some Spurs players<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Micky van de Ven made it clear that Tottenham wanted to vanquish the \u2018Spursy\u2019 tag<\/a>, and that is exactly what the Lilywhites did in the final.<\/p>\n

They delivered the most un-Tottenham-like performance at San Mames, defending solidly and resolutely by throwing their bodies on the line and displaying plenty of fight across the 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

Johnson<\/a> came with the all-important goal on the night of the final, which was his 18th striker of the season and arguably the ugliest, but neither he nor anyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> will care about how the ball found its way into the back of the net.<\/p>\n

Following the final whistle, Johnson sent a clear message to the media, insisting that the players were determined to get over the line to change the narrative around the club.<\/p>\n

The winger told TNT Sports<\/a>: \u201cAll the fans get battered, we get battered for not winning a trophy. We had to get the first one, I\u2019m so happy. Ever since I came here it has been \u2018Tottenham, good team but can\u2019t get it done\u2019, but we got it done.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Nottingham Forest man has also taken to Instagram stories<\/a> to mock those who used the \u2018Spursy\u2019 tag.<\/p>\n

Tottenham figures send clear message to those bantering the club<\/p>\n

It is clear from the reaction of the players and the coaching staff after the trophy win that they were determined to send a message to all those who had questioned Tottenham\u2019s mentality.<\/p>\n

Ange Postecoglou admitted that his main challenge at Spurs was to overcome that mental block<\/a> and change how the club is perceived, which he has now arguably managed to do.<\/p>\n

Cristian Romero took to social media after the win to thank the Tottenham fans<\/a> for their love and support, even when rivals and doubters did not believe in them.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe are champions of Europe, Tottenham. Like a family from start to finish, we deserved this title. Nobody believed in us and here we are, closing a great season. Thanks to everyone for the love. Come on you Spurs.\u201d<\/p>\n
