News broke this morning that Liverpool FC<\/a> had suddenly pulled ahead in the race for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Germany men\u2019s national team star Florian Wirtz \u2014 at Bayern Munich<\/a>\u2019s expense.<\/p>\n

Now, the mega-transfer \u2014 Leverkusen has reportedly been holding out for some \u20ac150M<\/a> \u2014 is looking close to happening.<\/p>\n

Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg<\/a> confirmed the state of play:<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> FC had already agreed all important personal terms with Florian #Wirtz \u2013 just like FC Bayern. Internally at #LFC, the club\u2019s record transfer had already been approved, as reported today in our show. <\/p>\n

The final \u201cyes\u201d from the player came today. Arne Slot personally spoke with Wirtz.<\/p>\n

Liverpool are now preparing the official offer. Leverkusen are very optimistic that an agreement with LFC will be reached shortly. Wirtz turned down Bayern today.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s that, then? Bayern\u2019s long, public<\/a> courtship of Wirtz has apparently come to nothing, and the Germany MNT pairing of Wirtz with Bayern\u2019s Jamal Musiala will not be duplicated at club level. <\/p>\n
