It arrives 23 years after the original 2002 animated movie stole the hearts of many fans with its chaotic blue alien Stitch and the lovable young girl Lilo who looks after him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe new film is Disney\u2019s first movie from the 2000s to get the remake treatment, after classic hits like \u201cThe Lion King,\u201d \u201cThe Little Mermaid,\u201d \u201cMulan,\u201d \u201cBeauty and the Beast,\u201d \u201cAladdin\u201d and more were all remade to much success. It\u2019s set to make a huge splash at the box office over the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend and open at No. 1 over fellow new release \u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 The Final Reckoning.\u201d Currently, \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch\u201d is on track to make $150 million to $160 million in its domestic opening, plus around $125 million at the international box office, which would bring the initial global tally to a mighty $275 million to $285 million. Combined with strong holdovers from other past movies, like \u201cSinners\u201d and \u201cFinal Destination Bloodlines,\u201d \u201cLilo &amp; Stitch\u201d may power the box office to a record Memorial Day haul.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDisney\u2019s remake follows Stitch, a blue alien from outer space who arrives in Hawaii and is taken in by Lilo and her big sister Nani. The 8-year-old actor is the spitting image of the fun-loving, optimistic Lilo from the original movie. After their parents die before the events of the movie, Nani is Lilo\u2019s legal guardian and looks after her socially isolated sister. Sydney is also the older sister of actor Siena Agudong, who\u2019s appeared in \u201cSidelined: The QB and Me,\u201d \u201cResident Evil\u201d and more. He\u2019s a large, four-eyed alien who travels to Earth with Agent Pleakley to recover Stitch, but soon befriends Lilo and Nani. Jumba was originally voiced by David Ogden Stiers, but \u201cHangover\u201d comedian Zach Galifianakis takes over in the live-action film.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<p>\tAgent Pleakley (Billy Magnussen)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-variety-2020\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" class=\"attachment-medium size-medium\" alt=\"\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/MixCollage-22-May-2025-10-33-AM-4064.jpg\" data-lazy- data-lazy-\/>\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPleakley is a so-called alien \u201cexpert\u201d on Earth who\u2019s sent to find Stitch along with Dr. Jumba. The one-eyed extraterrestrial is a nervous wreck who uses disguises to blend in with the human population. \u201cAladdin\u201d and \u201cRoad House\u201d actor Billy Magnussen takes over the role, which was originated by Kevin McDonald.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<p>\tCobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance plays the comically named Cobra Bubbles, who is a federal agent on the hunt for Stitch. In the original movie, Bubbles was Lilo\u2019s social worker who threatened to place Lilo in foster care if Nani can\u2019t do a proper job of looking after her.
