I went to a restaurant called La Pomme d&#8217;Amour and there was a slug in my lettuce.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The man was so apologetic. He said: \u2018You can drink as much as you like on the house\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was only 19 so I thought: \u2018I will then!\u2019 And I did. (Image: Prime Video)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was trying to explain to the policeman that I&#8217;d eaten a slug and the man had given me a lot of drink.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I couldn&#8217;t think what the French for slug was. I said: \u2018Je mange un escargot sans maison\u2019. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>The 65-year-old crucially did not know the French for slug, limace, so frantically tried to explain what he had eaten and described it as a &#8220;snail without a house&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The French police believed he was &#8220;paralytic&#8221; and jailed him for the night.<\/p>\n<p>He concluded: \u201cThey just thought: \u2018This man is definitely paralytic\u2019.
