{"id":128648,"date":"2025-05-24T18:18:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-24T18:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/128648\/"},"modified":"2025-05-24T18:18:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-24T18:18:15","slug":"thousands-hit-birmingham-pride-2025-as-iconic-parade-brings-explosion-of-colour-to-city-centre-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/128648\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands hit Birmingham Pride 2025 as iconic parade brings explosion of colour to city centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brummies choose life and love as thousands of revellers take to the city centre for Birmingham Pride&#8217;s 2025 parade<\/p>\n<p>13:55, 24 May 2025Updated 13:55, 24 May 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Thousands of Brummies took to the streets this afternoon for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> Pride&#8217;s 2025 parade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The highly-anticipated event is huge in the city calendar and 75,000 revellers are expected in Birmingham until Sunday to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Birmingham Pride will take place from Saturday, May 24 to Sunday, May 25 &#8211; and tens of thousands of people filled the city centre this afternoon as celebrations got underway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">SPOT YOURSELF IN OUR PARADE GALLERY, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/gallery\/stunning-birmingham-pride-2025-pictures-31714583\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"HERE.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Watch the parade in the video at the top of this story.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Large crowds filed into Centenary Square at around 11am on Saturday May 24 for the Pride parade, which snaked its way through the city centre to Birmingham&#8217;s Gay Village.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Open top buses, fitted-out HGVs and tractors took to the parade route as cheers, drums and squeals rang out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Crowds lined the barriers on the parade route, with families in rainbow tops and face paint, glitter and vibrant costumes all cheering.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Waves of colour rippled down New Street, which was filled with thousands of people coming together in pride, remembrance and protest.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_JS370311714.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Birmingham Pride festival 2025 is chance for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies to come together and celebrate. Pictured: The parade on May 24<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The thrum of drummers provided a rousing soundtrack for the parade, as well as singers and performers dressed up in rainbow carnival gear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The crowds were a mix of young and old, but all passionately taking the opportunity to march for equality and justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Hits from iconic bands like ABBA filled the town centre walkways bringing a fun-filled atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Across the weekend, revellers can expect performances from diverse artists within the community, a candlelit HIV memorial vigil, keynote speakers, community stalls, family-friendly activities and street food.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">More than 40,000 are expected to attend the festival site itself, which is in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village, where music stars will perform for the crowd, in a safe space, free of judgment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Clean Bandit, Vengaboys, Cascada and Bananarama are among the artists scheduled to play the main stage at the festival this year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_JS370311618.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Birmingham Pride festival 2025 is chance for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies to come together and celebrate.
