Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a> has shared that she wants to reprise her role from Scream 2, with the star adding that she was “waiting for [her] call”. <\/p>\n

The actor played Cici Cooper in the second instalment in the horror series<\/a>, with the character – a student at Windsor College – being brutally murdered by the villainous Ghostface as she is thrown from the terrace of her sorority house. <\/p>\n

Nearly three decades on from the film, Kevin Williamson’s franchise is still going on strong as it prepares to release its seventh entry<\/a> next year, with several former cast members such as Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard<\/a> set to return despite their previous characters being deceased.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>, Gellar shared that she has long harboured hopes of returning to the franchise either as Cici once more or a new character, saying: “I\u2019m not in [Scream 7]<\/a>. I tried to get in [Scream 7<\/a>], [but] nobody wanted me. <\/p>\n

“They were bringing everybody back. I kept thinking I would get a call, I didn\u2019t get a call. There\u2019s a lot of people that died in all the Scream movies that are back. Skeet [Ulrich], [Matthew] Lillard. I\u2019m just saying, I\u2019m waiting for my call.”<\/p>\n

While Gellar expressed an interest in returning to the Scream series, it was recently claimed that the actor turned down the opportunity to reprise her role<\/a> as Helen Shivers in the upcoming legacy sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is due to be released in July.<\/p>\n

“I tried [to have Gellar return], okay?” shared writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. “I harassed her! But she [Helen] is dead. I tried to pitch some crazy shit too. I was like, ‘What if it’s like you weren’t dead and you’re actually alive, but in hiding?’ <\/p>\n

“And Sarah’s like, ‘I was on ice. I was the most dead a person could be. You can see my frozen body.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, but what if?’ And she said, ‘I am dead. I am Sarah Dead Gellar’,” recalled the director, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Lansky.<\/p>\n

While Gellar won’t be appearing in the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, the actor will be starring in the upcoming sequel series<\/a> to Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/a>, which sees her iconic character team up with a young witch – played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong<\/a> – to quell a new threat.<\/p>\n

Scream 7 <\/strong>is currently scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n
