{"id":129386,"date":"2025-05-25T01:04:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T01:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/129386\/"},"modified":"2025-05-25T01:04:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T01:04:09","slug":"nascar-superstar-kyle-larson-savages-f1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/129386\/","title":{"rendered":"NASCAR superstar Kyle Larson savages F1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NASCAR superstar Kyle Larson has admitted that he\u2019s love a chance to drive a Formula 1 car should the opportunity ever present itself.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Larson is one of the established front-runners of America\u2019s premier category of racing, and has previously suggested he\u2019d have the edge over four-time F1 champ Max Verstappen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kyle Larson would \u2018never turn down the opportunity\u2019 to drive an F1 car<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2021 Cup Series winner has extensive experience outside the tin-top category, racing in IndyCar alongside frequent Sprintcar competitor.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old has also been linked with a drive in the Australian Supercars category in a wildcard entry following a speedway appearance in Adelaide last year.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite his experience across an array of machinery, he\u2019s never driven an F1 car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever been asked to drive in F1,\u201d Larson admitted on The Pat McAfee Show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s tough coming from my background of dirt tracks and ovals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Larson has forged his career racing stateside, rising through the ARCA series, Trucks, and Xfinity before graduating to NASCAR\u2019s top flight at the end of 2013, winning his first race with Chip Ganassi at Michigan in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also competed in sportscars, winning the 24 Hours of Daytona alongside Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, and Jamie McMurry in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, he made his debut in the Indianapolis in an Arrow McLaren\/Rick Hendrick entered car. The 32-year-old will this weekend line up for his second berth in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Even still, the 32-time Cup series race winner is open to an opportunity behind the wheel of an F1 car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to Abu Dhabi in 2021; it was sick,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike, the event was awesome. I mean, it was incredible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut yeah, the racing \u2013 the racing is not what we are accustomed to in America.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s crazy how big it is because, like, it\u2019s not super exciting, but I think it\u2019s the stuff outside of it \u2013 the celebrities that are there, the engineering, the money, just everything about that, you know? The big brands on the cars and stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you know, I feel like NASCAR and IndyCar here in America \u2013 like you can\u2019t find much more exciting racing than what we have here,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m fortunate to get to run both of them, but I would definitely never turn down the opportunity to go and try it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More on American interest in F1 from PlanetF1.com<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/ranked-top-10-american-f1-drivers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ranked: The top 10 American drivers in Formula 1 history<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/revealed-reasons-why-nascar-fans-dont-like-f1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revealed: Seven reasons why NASCAR fans don\u2019t like F1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But though he\u2019s never sampled F1 machinery, Larson has suggested he\u2019s got the measure of Verstappen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know in my mind I am better than him as an all-around driver,\u201d Larson claimed last August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no way [Verstappen] can get into a Sprintcar and win the Knoxville Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no way he can go win the Chili Bowl. There\u2019s no way he can go win a Cup race at Bristol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s probably no way I can go win a Formula 1 race at Monaco, but I think I\u2019d have a better shot at him just because of the car element.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what gives me ease and confidence that, like, I know I\u2019m better than him \u2013 maybe not in an open-wheel IndyCar or Formula 1 car, but that\u2019s one discipline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I would beat him in everything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With links to McLaren through his IndyCar efforts, Zak Brown could hold the keys to making Larson\u2019s F1 aspirations a reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been chatting about it,\u201d Brown admitted on The Happy Hour Podcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKyle, as you can imagine, definitely wants to do it in between our schedule, which goes from February to December, and NASCAR\u2019s schedule, which is February to November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding that window \u2013 we did that with Jimmie Johnson and Fernando [Alonso] in Bahrain with Hendrick Motorsports [in 2018].
