A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being attacked in the street. Merseyside Police<\/a> are appealing for witnesses after reports of an assault<\/a> in Huyton.<\/a><\/p>\n

The police were contacted at 6.15pm after reports of a disturbance involving several males on St Annes Road. One of the males, aged 16, suffered a laceration to his hand and a superficial injury to his face, police said. He has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.<\/p>\n

An investigation is underway and house-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area. A section 60 is in place in the surrounding area which is running from 8pm tonight (Saturday May 24) to 8pm tomorrow (Sunday).<\/p>\n

The power extends to all males aged 13-30 of any ethnicity. The Order, under S60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, gives officers enhanced powers to stop and search individuals in the area and is designed to minimise serious violence.<\/p>\n

The order covers Roby, Woolfall Heath and Stockbridge Village, bordered by Huyton<\/a> Lane, Pilch Lane, Princess Drive and Deysbrook Lane.<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield said: \u201cThe investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity of St Annes Road who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.<\/p>\n

\u201cKnife crime<\/a> will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside and we would ask for the public\u2019s help in finding the perpetrator.\u201d<\/p>\n
