\"BirminghamBirmingham City Council warns residents not to follow bin trucks but to put waste by your bin<\/p>\n

Birmingham City Council has issued an urgent warning to residents as bin trucks resume their rounds.<\/p>\n

For the first time in weeks, refuse lorries have been managing to leave their depots and empty wheelie bins as the strike continues.<\/p>\n

Some desperate residents have taken to following the trucks clutching black bin bags at the crews in the hope they will not forget to take their mounting waste away.<\/p>\n

The council is telling householders not to follow the 26 ton trucks on safety grounds.<\/p>\n

They posted on X: “Residents \u2013 if you see one of our bin trucks drive down your street, please don\u2019t follow them, there is a risk to your health and safety.<\/p>\n

“Put your rubbish in or next to your wheelie bin outside your property or at your usual collection point.”<\/p>\n

Residents came out to lend their support and hand over their rubbish as bin crews drove down Carlton Road in Bordesley Green<\/a>, on March 28.<\/p>\n

“They’re legends” says one man as he points to the crew, who smiled and waved back.<\/p>\n

Carlton Road resident Raheela Kausar said: “The binmen are really good and they deserve a rise.<\/p>\n

“I don’t like coming to this side where Grove Cottage Road is because someone is always fly-tipping stuff.<\/p>\n

“People should not be throwing their rubbish outside.<\/p>\n

“We have to do our bit too, we have to take pride in where we live.<\/p>\n

“I pick up other people’s rubbish and if you fly-tip, you should get a fine.”<\/p>\n
